| *shrugppl always want what they can't have. once they get it, the luster is no longer there, and the person keeps on searching for that perfect one. what if you meet the right person at the wrong time? what if you meet the wrong person at the right time? nothing's ever perfect. one should treasure what they already have. | | |
| LightSometimes, just when you feel there's no place for you to go, there's no choice for you to pick from, a strand of light sheds in. If you just be patient and just look carefully, there's always another opportunity waiting for you around the corner. | | |
| new updatei finally started using facebook again. omg, i discovered a new addiction, super poke! if you poke 3 more person, you get to discover a new emote! how cool is that! i suppose i should update. Va tech has been treating me well, other than all the endless projects, readings and tests, people here are pretty nice. i have two roomates who are both Chinese, one is from Zhejiang U, one is from Qinghua ^^ surprisingly, there are soooo many ppl from Qinghua here. sometimes i wonder how can i ever compete w/ those ppl. for ppl that dunno about Chinese schools, Qinghua is like MIT in the U.S. anyways, since our apt has a living room, on weekends, we can have ppl over and just chill. i really regret not having a living room when i was at Cornell. just imagine the things i could've done! ohhhhh yah! i finally got Harry Potter this past Sunday. puahhahaa now my life is complete. | | |

| ExperienceThis past week has really made me feel personality is shaped over time by personal experience. So on Wednesday, I was removed from my Portfolio Management class because I don't have the pre-req for it. I've been going to the class this past week, and I feel I can do the well in that class, come on, it's a finance class, how hard can it be. I tried to talk to the professor that teaches the class, the department's secretary, and the head. They all said the same thing, "We don't care. It's a part of the rule." I guess the naive me still felt I could do something about it. I tried to talk to my own major's department head, he can't do anything, which's understandable. So I went to the graduate school office to talk to one of the advisors. The lady was very nice, she said my last option would be talking to the dean. When I went to the dean's office, the secretary stopped me. I asked her if I could make an appointment sometimes with the dean, and I also explained my situation. Her answer was "The dean's very busy. If it's a part of the rule, then you have to follow it." She wouldn't let me see the dean. Now, this was taken course over the period of three days. I could only go in between my classes. In the beginning, I felt, it's my education, I should have the right to take the classes I want to take. And if I see something wrong, shouldn't I try my best to change it? I guess this is my lesson of the week, sometimes, things just don't work out, no matter how hard you try; in the end, you will just feel even more disappointed. Maybe the Chinese way of "less action means less trouble" is right after all. | | |
