So I’m in a graphic design class at Pasadena Art Center every Wednesday. The class is about logos and what they mean to us. So, I’m realizing EVERYTHING is a logo. They’re everywhere. Here are my favorite and least favorite logos:
1. Nike – It’s so simple yet strong. I think Michael Jordan had more to do with branding/identifying this logo than this logo being so good but it’s so recognizable all around the world. 2. FedEx – the only reason I like it so much is because of that arrow between the E and X. Ingenious. 3. Mobile – I don’t know why I like this one so much. The simplicity of it. They just wanted to be seen from far away so they decided to make the O red like a target.
least favorite logos 1. My work logo – it’s the ugliest thing ever. I want to re-do it. In fact, they told me I could but it’ll go nowhere cuz everything from cars, paper, to shirts have that logo on it. It’s too late. 2. Sam Ash Music – is that Sam Ask? The font choice is just poor. I hate it. 3. Starbucks – What is that? a mermaid? A goddess? The only thing that sticks out is that green color but the lady is weird. What does it have to do with coffee?
so as my project, I decided to redo the Sam Ash logo.; I personally like the second one but my classmates don't like it because they think it's too old fashion.. freakin' art majors.. so just to feed them a bone, i made #1
I just watched this movie for the first time in my life today. it was one of those obscure movies I added long time ago on netflix but didn't notice that it was next in line.. next thing i know, it's on my desk.
This movie was quite revolutionary back in 1989.
1. High Maintenance - This movie coined this term back in 1989. Now, we just say HM or LM or even MM... heck there's money HM and emotional HM. The worst is money & emotional HM but thinks she's LM. This is one of the first questions guys ask.. crazy..
2. Platonic friends - so guys can't have female friends because sex gets in the way. I have a few but as i've gotten older, i don't have a desire to keep in touch with single female friends as much.. I don't know.. it sucks but it's the truth. Unless they're married or very young then i hang out w/ them for female/fashion advice or just to stay relevant with college and have fun without someone saying "i'm too old for this"
3. it took them 12 years to realize love. i would never fall in love with a friend (unless i liked them before). If we were on a plane together, captured by terrorists, held as POWs in war, escaped execution, walked 300 miles to freedom - that experience together might change my mind.. but it would just be sooo weird!!! can't even imagine myself w/ certain people.. if i liked you in the past, i'm sure i would have told you about it by now...
4. Be a jerk, get the girl. This has always been my underlying theory on how to get girls.. little did I know, Harry (Billy Crystal) perfected this strategy back in the 80's. and i thought i was being original.
5. Singleness is a crazy emotion. Rob Reiner and Billy Crystal made this based on their divorce experiences. In anger, depression, lonliness.... humor and joy was produced. Rob Reiner said the ending is not realistic but he felt he had to make it more hollywood... he would have made them stay single and apart.. so sad!!
funny movie though.. i actually chuckled a couple of times..
So I’m in a soccer league
every Monday. I initially started this team w/ co-workers just to get
some exercise and improve work morale. I’ve never played soccer so here
is my analysis of soccer.
1. Giving
up a goal is so demoralizing. You work so hard for 20,
40, maybe even 60 minutes then you give up a goal and you know you’re not
gonna score because they’re going to play a prevent defense. It
sucks the life out of you unlike any sport.
2. Dribbling
is hard. You have to run full speed, while kicking a
ball, changing directions, and avoid defenders. Just can’t do it all
at once. Brain/body overload.
3. The
field is too big. The only thing I have is hustle and being in
shape but it’s totally useless because the field is too big, it doesn’t
make a big difference.
4. It’s
better exercise than basketball. Soccer is like
basketball with your feet. The court is bigger but a lot of the same
principles apply. Give and go. box out. Passing.
The Big reason soccer is not
big in America:
$$$$.
There’s no break in the
action, thus no commercials, thus no money. Yeah, you can make some money
off those billboard advertisements in the back or you have a
once-in-a-lifetime, super good looking, extremely talented David Beckham, but
everyday regular games just don’t fit well for American TV. That’s it.
That’s why MLS will never be big.
