like an icon, but slightly uglier

 Icon

Here's the result from the first class. The picture isn't all that great, as I am using 'photo booth' to take it.

"Photo booth" was how my folks took my brother's first baby pictures, and also provided the pic that graced my wedding program.

Is it oil?

Acrylic. The 'traditional' material of icons is Egg Tempura, but it's a little too fussy for beginners, and, for that matter, acrylics are used by a lot of iconographers.

Lovely. Did you find the process of creating it to be meditative?

I like it; I don't find it to be ugly at all.

Is photo booth the reason why the ICXC is backwards?

Egg tempura paint would seem awfully fussy, especially for the gold metallic paint.

I don't think it's ugly, but I think Jesus looks tired. Actually, I usually think Jesus looks tired in the icons I've seen.
