Germany 3 - 2 Turkey

OMG, this game almost gave me a heart attack. From the beginning, this was a very competitive match-up between two very beloved football teams. The Germans was given the better odd of winning given the injuries and suspensions on the Turkish team, but you can never count the underdogs out because they can find a way to overcome and surprise you.

Here's a quick recap, the Turks score the first goal and takes the lead (Noooo!) in the first half. Luckily, the Germans came back, score less than 5 minutes later and tied the game to halftime. The second half is when things got really really intense, power surges and lightning strikes included. Germany scores another goal to steal the lead only to lose it 8 minutes later and we're back to being tied. Now, I figured (and probably everyone else too) at this point that the game will go into overtime and maybe even to the penalty kicks like the Spain vs. Italy match. But then Germany scores another goal and has the lead. This is where the worst possible time for a power outage occurs and I was left holding my breath. With only 4 minutes (including stoppage) left, anything could happen. In end, nothing happened and Germany wins the game.

Never ever count the underdogs out, Ugul Boral of Turkey scores the first goal...

But Philipp Lahm manages to score the last goal in the final few minutes to win for Germany.

Talk about a thrilling and totally suspenseful game, can't wait to see who Germany will face in the final, Russia or Spain.

Deutschland wins! Although I didn't get to see this game personally and am very upset about that. From the video recaps and news reports, it was a very exciting game to watch. Now the German team advances to the semifinals and faces off the winner from the Croatia and Turkey match.

The first goal of the game at 22 minutes in the first half...

It's Euro Cup time! I can't believe the German team almost got knocked out during the first round of games. Thank god for Michael Ballack scoring the winning kick in the second half of the game today. I look forward to seeing them play against Portugal this Thursday. Let's go Deutschland!

On a similar note, the US football team defeated Barbados in the World Cup Qualifiers to advance to the next round. Yay, USA!

Busy week

It's been real busy these last few days, I've been staying at work later than usual trying to get my systems done for the project integration. It seems like everyone is waiting for my systems to be finished, so they can merge it up with all the others and test out the entire simulation. But I keep finding new things about my systems and have to rework them. Argh! I can't wait for the weekend to get here and I can relax a little.

LOL, God must be a dog-lover to leave an island with a tree.

Politics are hot!

The high-drama presidential campaign of 2008 has given at least one major benefit. It has made politics hot and important again for the general population. Look at Indiana and North Carolina, it has driven huge unprecedent voter turnouts compared to the last presidential election. Let's hope they stay active as voters in the future.

Given how well Iron Man did at the box office this past weekend and has already inked a sequel for 2010, I find it difficult to believe Superman (DC superstar) would need to pander so low for a licensing deal. Oh, c'mon. He's Superman!

Weekend Recap - Boston Trip

This past weekend, I decided to get away from Baltimore and headed off to Boston to see my sister and check out Beantown. Consequently, it was also the same weekend as my sister's baptism and my parents (including two cousins) were coming up that Sunday to witness the big event. On Friday, I walked the entire Freedom Walk trail, hung out at the Boston Commons, the Public Gardens and the Skywalk at the Prudential Center. Saturday was a little more relaxed and I spend the day at the Museum of Fine Arts. Had dinner on both nights with dear friends that I haven't seen in a long time. Sunday was devoted to my sister's baptism and lunch with my family. Overall, it was a great weekend and the weather couldn't have been better.

Funny, I've always heard and thought that the best time to buy real estate is in a bear market. God forbid, you buy when the market is at its peak and you spend a ton of money just to see it evaporate. But now I'm not sure anymore. Maybe there is never a good time to buy real estate.

April Fool's Day has always been a odd one. Do we celebrate it because it has an historical/religious importance to it like MLK Jr. birthday and Halloween or is it purely because we're bored and April seems to lack any holidays? To me, the day will always "live in infamy."

On a side note, a friend of a friend, Cami got married over the weekend. Congratulations to her!!! I remember hearing about the proposal and engagement back in my senior year of college and can't believe it has actually happened. I wish her and her husband a long and prosperous life. :)
