| If there was any band to see on Halloween, it would have to be the
Misfits, in NYC. We got to meet Jerry Only the moment we walked in. He
signed my Dawn of the Dead t-shirt.

They
played with some band from New Orleans, whose bassist was in White
Zombie. In all honesty, they were pretty terrible, and the music was
really slow. This is also not the best photo of her, but it's all I got.

..and then there was Balzac, a Japanese punk band. They were
amazing. Balzac has a great guitarist. To be honest, their set was a
little long, but I was constantly amazed but the guitar work. And look at their jackets!

Then the Misfits came on. Jerry Only's mom was in the audience that
night, and he thanked her for introducing him to The Circle Jerks and
Social Distortion early on. What a cool mom.
He also set the record straight - everything
between the him and Glenn Danzig had been settled, and he wished him the
best of luck. Perhaps there will be a reunion someday.

Best Halloween ever.

| it's been a while since i wrote anything in here.. i just got back from a brief trip to california.. to visit our friend jess arden and bf fish. the trip was good... but the airline we chose was probably the worst on the face of the earth. in total, we spent 25 hours in an airport. what happened? well in order to get to sacramento, we had to go from newark, nj->phoenix, az->sacramento, ca. so while on our plane to sacramento, we are told there's a mechanical problem, and had to get off. about 10 minutes later someone tells us that our flight is cancelled. great. what do we do now? well after waiting about 2 hours in line at customer service, we finally get tickets for another flight .... at 6pm the next day! grauabhsnasndfa! well they paid for a hotel room for the night, and vanessa and i stayed in and ordered a pizza. it was pretty unfortunate that an entire day of our trip was just basically gone. but when we finally got to sacramento the next day, we had the best time. jess and fish have a pretty nice place out there. the weather is so nice, that people freak out when it rains. (its been raining here for about 2 weeks straight). the following day we went winery-hopping, which was great because they were all free... gettin drunk on the cheap is fun! we also made a trip out to "old sac" (yes they really call it that) to go shopping and whatnot. the guy in the local head shop was a total freak. sacramento was fun. i would love to live out there. i heard that my company has an office out there. i wanna look into it.

| So let me detail the GWAR show for you that arent familiar. Gwar is a band that has been around for 20 years and they still wear thongs on stage. How hardcore is that. Musically Gwar isnt anything that special but the live show is ridiculous. Each band member is wearing some giant outlandish costume (and the aforementioned thong) covered in spikes and blood. There are two slaves.
First out was the Nazi Pope, who incidentally bore a resemblance to the current pontiff. His face and chest were ripped off and blood shot everywhere. Then came George Bush. His face was ripped off and he was stabbed multiple times. Blood shot everywhere. Lastly, a ressurrected robotic Ronald Regan took the stage. When I say robotic, I dont mean a shitty Short Circuit robot. Think of the robotic exoskeleton that Ripley wore in Aliens. Huge. Ronald Regan's robotic body was dismembered with a giant sword that the lead singer wielded, his zombie corpse fell out of the chestpiece and blood shot everywhere.
The lead singer wore a giant phallus that shot out blood.
Oh and the blood cannons. Who can forget those?
Now that I've thoroughly scared everyone, who wants to go see Gwar again?
| So things have been pretty busy.
Went to a metal show on Saturday. WSOU's Sounds of the Underground Tour... It was amazing. If anyone is interested in how Gwar is on stage, I can tell you, they are pretty freakin insane. Lets just say that most of the audience was covered in fake blood by the end of the show. The other bands were great too; Poison the Well, From Autumn to Ashes, and Lamb of God headlined. Of course Lamb of God was too good to use the existing equipment so they brought their own...After about a 20 minute setup they had the entire stage covered in amps, so when you looked up there all you saw was an enormous wall of amplifiers and 4 band members. It was awesome.
Sunday we made our bbq rounds. Free food and family. It wasn't too shabby.
Monday was Jess Arden and Android Fishman's last day in Jersey before they drove off to California for good. Pretty sad but somehow we managed to get another bbq going before fireworks and saying goodbye...we'll miss you guys! Seriously, the prospect of just driving off to the other side of the country seems like a scary thing. Good luck to you.
Tuesday I took off from work and it was great.
Back in the office Wed, and I couldn't have been more out of it. I'm still out of it. I'm consoled by the fact that there's only one more day left in this work week. Oh, and I get paid tomorrow too. Not bad..not bad at all.
