Things have been good. I guess I've been in a bubble for the past couple of months. My xanga faithful definately don't read this for fun, but just to see how I'm doing. Allow me to reward you. As I said, things have been good. A few weeks ago I was granted acceptance into UCLA. I stayed up many a night on guard duty in Iraq thinking about the day I'll get that chance at being a Bruin again. Well, hello chance. But that's just step one. Now I have 50 pages of papers to write in the next 3 weeks to fullfill my end of the deal with high academic standing. Procrastination is a sick thing, but I love the thrill of crunchtime. I intend on being clutch. Granada Hills def. Verdugo Hills for the Boys JV City Championship. Yep, my boys won =) What's sad was the fact I wasn't there to coach them to victory. I had National Guard duty over the weekend. That's what you get for leading a double-life. You win some you lose some, but we ultimately won, so I'm happy nonetheless. Varsity playoffs continue. Coincidentally, they play Verdugo Hills tomorrow afternoon in the quarterfinals. We have the #1 seed again and our on the way to a REPEAT. As some of you know, I'm very wary of hot streaks. God gives and takes away, and He's been giving a lot lately. As intensively overjoyed as I feel now, I know it can be equally painful too. 50 pages is actually looking very painful right about now. And well, Dirk's fate this year in the playoffs doesn't make me smile either. You can't win them all, but you can sure try. Since gas prices are becoming a hot topic these days, let me share with you some good news. Enjoy these gas prices now, because it's still cheap compared to what we could be paying in 3-5 years. Accounting for decades of American gluttony and selfishness, we are paying roughly half of the price many other nations pay for their precious petroleum. The mean value per gallon around the world right now is 6 bucks. We've gotten this way because we were super inefficient back in the day and are still inefiicient with our energy today. We've been burning them with reckless abandon since America underwent industrialization. Why? Because it was cheap and we never bothered to regulate. But prices are soaring now and we're complaining. Don't blame the Middle East. Blame our forefathers and today's drivers who like to step on that gas pedal, especially those in SUV's. Blame the fact that our solution to the freeway traffic problem took the route of building more freeways instead of building a reliable mass transit system. More freeways = more cars = more gas wasted = paying $6/gallon in 2015. |
