  • Birthday weekend!

     What kind of a photographer/mother am I?? I have two little darlings who had birthdays this weekend and I haven't even done photoshoots for them!! They both LOVE getting their picture taken and I love doing it... it just is so crazy right now I haven't gotten to it!

    So Darling Birthday Child #1, my sweet ball o' energy, Tyler Lenée, turned 5 on Friday, the 29th. She is massively excited to be 5 and officially a Kindergartener! More pictures of this cutie petutie to come!

    Darling Birthday Child # 2 is my most handsome (one and only) son, Trenton Lee! He turned the big 1-0 on Saturday, the 30th. I still can't believe I have a child that is 10 years old!?! *sigh*

    He and I went to the Renaissance Festival most all day and then had a big party that evening for both Darling Birthday Children. Grilled out hamburgers with 5 cosins and several other friends in attendance. It was fun but again, what kind of photographer am I if don't even take out my camera at my own kid's birthday parties???

  • TRUE??

    Do you ever look at your badges status? Silly me, I started checking when one of my friends mentioned she was trying to get her TRUE badge and was frustrated to be stuck at 98%. I searched and searched my account and finally found the little progress bar... yeah! 99%! How long have I been hovering on the edge of TRUE recognition and didn't know it?? This must be some kind of cruel tease! And why do I care anyway?? The fickleness of my own heart sometimes surprises me... *sigh*

    So what about when you aren't looking for something spontaneous? Sometimes we don't always want to struggle for the spontaneous; just taking wild shots in the dark hoping for something amazing. How can we script our shots to get what we are looking for? Several people pointed out from my last post that the Afghan Girl was more posed than spontaneous. Good eye. You are right. While the look in her eyes spoke volumes and couldn't have been there for long, still this girl was just sitting there waiting for the photographer to take her picture. He may have taken 20 or 30 shots of her before he got this famous image. Just as placing your subject in a place with good lighting is always a first when posing your subjects, so is getting them comfortable.  Read More Here...
