| | Sexual Predators/Child Molesters
It seems as though every week or
so, there is a new story on the news about a child abducted and killed
by a sexual predator. Aside from the cast, the story is all the
same. Adult male serves time for violent crimes against children, is released after minimal time in prison, and
goes on to commit more heinous crimes.
Let me first differentiate between a sexual predator, and someone
accused of a sexual related crime. I (personally) think it is
STUPID for a 19 year old boy to go to prison for having sex with a 16
year old girl. DUMB! That is someone's (whose I have no
idea....Conservatives, I guess) attempt at regulating morality. I
think that is none of the government's business.
I think that a
reasonable distinction between the two would be if A.) if the sex was
consensual, and B.) If the child -male or female- was under age
13. I think that possession of child pornography is sick, but I'm
not really convinced it should be illegal for those who possess it (but
are not responsible for the photos being taken). The premise of
this is an assumption that a worse crime is coming. They assume
that because one views child pornography, that they are a potential
sexual predator. There are many people out there who have kinky
fetishes that are productive, harmless members of society.
BUT, as soon as the threshold is crossed, that you rape a child or
sexually assault a child your ass should be locked up for life.
No second chances, no parole hearings, no nothing but jail cell until
your dying day. I do not believe that sexual predators can be
rehabilitated. The number of repeat sex offenders proves
that. If you have it in you to rape a child, you aren't going to
just suddenly wake up one day and not have that instinct.
Children need to be confident that if they are forced to take the stand
against the perpetrator that they will never have to fear them
again. We need to quit wasting our jail space on non-violent
crimes. Drug addicts, prostitutes, white collar crimes, etc.
should not be taking space in a facility that is designed to keep
dangerous people off the streets. Too many of these dangerous
people are getting out due to space constraints and committing violent
crimes again.
Oh, and while I'm ranting, I also want to say that Catholic preists who
vow celebacy for the Lord, are crazy. Catholic churches are a
breeding ground for sexual crimes. It is NOT NATURAL NOT TO HAVE
SEX!! Get over your stupid rule, realize that it is not rational,
and then go get laid. Seriously, this has got to stop!
