a thing of beauty

From Yahoo -- Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant (8) goes up for a three-pointer against Detroit Pistons' Richard Hamilton (32) as the Pistons' bench watches in the final seconds of Game 2 of the NBA Finals, Tuesday, June 8, 2004, in Los Angeles. Bryant made the shot to tie the game and send it into overtime. The Lakers went on to win, 99-91.

fingerprint fun

i was at the santa clara sheriff's office last night getting some fingerprint cards filled out.

the new school way of taking prints is to use this computer that scans your fingers, then prints it out using a regular printer. however, i had to do it the old school way thanks to the lame government agency that does the fingerprint checking. bastards!

basically the way the fingerprinting works is there's this circular metal plate with a bunch of this black sticky ink stuff smeared on it. the fingerprint taker places your fingers on the plate to pick up the ink, then presses your fingers to the fingerprint card. repeat for each finger and hand, and voila, you're done. the whole process takes all of three minutes. nice and easy, right?

so anyways, i ended up spending an hour in the nearly deserted sheriff's office. i dunno why it took so long, i mean, there wasn't exactly a crowd waiting to get fingerprinted.

the place was almost as slow as getting something done at the dmv. *shudder*
