A Story

Well all, for the past couple of years I have really wanted to write a story - like a novel.  Finally, I decided during my spare minutes now and then during the day I would start writing one.  Here is the beginning...let me know what you think!!!  Its called, Change for The Best.

Chapter 1 A Lonely Girl

Emma walked down the warm streets of Tallahasse. Everything was so quiet, so different from her old home. Thoughts of anger and resentment began to stir in her mind. Why did we have to move here? Why did Dad's job have to change? Why can't we go back to the familiar? I hate this new home. Emma had just moved to sunny Florida from snowy, wintery Maine. The change was shocking and Emma hated change. She had no friends, no playmates, no toys unpacked, nothing. She trudged up the sidewalk back to the new house and ran into her new room. Bare walls and boxes greeted her bright blue eyes. She squished herself in between boxes and fell asleep.

When she awoke, her mother called everyone to dinner. As they sat on matresses eating Chick-Fil-A chicken soup, Emma wondered if she would ever like her new home. After eating, Emma went back to her room. She looked out at the stars and wondered if there was another little girl just like her with no friends who wanted to play with her. She quietly whispered a silent prayer to God. Dear God, please...if it is at all possible...bring me friend. A friend looking for someone like me, who wants to play with me, and to just be my friend. Amen. Emma quietly curled up in a cardboard box "bed" for the night and sat looking at the stars til she fell fast asleep.

Hope you enjoyed, and don't look for all the grammar and spelling to be correct...its still in the proofing session.

France

As you may have read on Mern's blog we are in France!!!  It is amazing how different the cultures are.  I made a list of the many differences and I think you may be shocked at a fez of them!  Enjoy!

1. the keyboard- in Europe all the letters and numbers are all jumbled in different places

2. kisses - you may think the kissing on both cheeks is old fashioned, but even the little children do it to each other!

3. toilet flushers - are on top of the toilet and you have to push them down

4. outlets - the outlets have twice the power of American ones

5. everywhere you go there are bakeries on every street corner

6. hot chocolate - to make hot chocolate you take a very small bowl and take milk from a milk warmer and add hot choclate mix then stir and drink

7. stick shift - everyone drives in stick shift except for very wealthy to help save gas

8. dinners are in courses and they eat around 8 or 9 o'clock

9. most toilet paper is pink  :)

10. when you buy something the tax is already put into the price tag so you never have to calculate tax!!!!!

Well, enjoy a little taste of France!!!  I will be back soon!!!!
