| | The Fire
The front of the building. It's like Silent Hill inside of this building.
A view up. I was on the third floor. My window wasn't blown, like on the second floor.
This is the deli where the fire began. They say it was an electrical fire.
 The entryway.
Straight down. You can see my room.
Through our window. Everything was just scorched.
The bathroom. This room got it the worst because the fire apparently came straight up through here. If you look at the shower head, you can see scorch marks. There was fire coming out of here.
 Kitchen.
The firefighters hacked into the walls to try to find the fire because the fire was hiding inside of the walls.
The windows kind of exploded on us.

A very, very eerie picture taken in my neighbors' livingroom. I can't believe their apartment was incinerated while ours got away with just a few scorches and a lot of smoke.
The fire was so hot it burned straight through to the building next to ours.
 From the doorway.
We have an atrium, this is the view straight down out of our window from our living room. My god.
Another view out of the living room.
 More of the living room.
Where the firemen tried to douse the flames.
 More of the bathroom.
 Before the fire.
 Their floor.
Where the fire came up. It started in that corner behind the burned couch and shot straight up.
Ended up in the bathroom and kept going up towards ours.
 Their apartment was virtually demolished.
 It's all so creepy.
I can't believe this happened.I'm very thankful that my roommates and I are alive, and that our stuff wasn't completely destroyed. I have no idea what god was watching over us but for us to get away with so much when the apartment right under ours was so scorched just blows my mind. The fact that we only had about two feet worth of floor between us and the apartment below is... crazy. You can see that the fire reached their ceiling at some points, which meant if the firefighters hadn't gotten there in time, my apartment would've ended up just as bad if not worse. Complete with caved in floors. God, we're so lucky. We are so fucking lucky. What's really crazy is the fact that the couple downstairs had this cross that they were given by a priest when they were married, and before they left California, they had it blessed. It had two gold rings woven into it. Very beautifully made. The wall they had hung it on completely burned. But that cross wasn't even smoke damaged. And it was made out of wood. Maybe I should start believing in god again. |
