I love Peru I've been in Peru for a month and two weeks now. I don't miss the States at all yet. I just finished grading my students final exams. They all passed! These are pictures from Chan Chan, some ruins about 30 minutes from Trujillo. Two weekends ago, all students and teachers from SALI went on a field trip to Chan Chan. It was a great opportunity for students and teachers to get to know each other a little better and also to learn some history.
This group picture shows half of the group with our tour guide on the right.
These are three of my students! Mauricio, Christina, and Silvia.
Santiago, Katie, Erin and me.
There was a Pollata (church picnic) at Larco church today! There was a lot of food! We had to peel a huge bucket of potatoes.
Two women in the kitchen preparing beets and carrots.
Sarah and I waiting for the chicken to be ready. It was so cold today.
Two sisters that I met today! They were very fascinated with the color of my hair:) Do you see the scarf I made? It kept me very warm.
These girls were so cute. I was playing with them quite a bit this afternoon.

As Sarah and I were trying to catch a taxi back to SALI, we walked by this brightly colored house and I just had to take a picture!
On Wednesday, after final exams, we all went out to eat! This is Becca, Michelle and Sarah Story
Breakfast at SALI last Saturday morning.
Erin(left) has been here for 11 months. She left on Tuesday to go home. Sarah was a new intern and she had to leave yesterday. She was only here for a month.

Teaching starts again on Tuesday. We are taking Monday off to celebrate July 4th! It'll be strange not having fireworks. We'll have to do something. Maybe light a few candles and sing some Independence Day songs! Tomorrow, I'm going to Huanchaco beach again! I'm hoping to purchase some souvenirs there. More soon! |
