The last week has been one of the most stressful, around my little corner of the world.

Monday afternoon my father went in for the second surgery required to make his pacemaker fully functional. When the doctor came out of the operating room, he told us (this is an exact quote) "Well, there's no turning back now. We've just killed the top half of the heart so that the pacemaker will be able to work the bottom half of the heart without interference." The only words that we heard, at first, were "we've just killed the top half of the heart." We almost strangled that doctor!!! After we calmed down enough to be able to ask questions, things were explained more thoroughly. When I finally understood a little of what had happened, I let the doctor know that I felt he had been very cold-hearted with his first description of what they did. He knew, without a doubt, that I was very angry with him. I told him that, in my opinion, he should do some serious work on his 'bedside manner!' He couldn't apologize enough, but unfortunately that didn't help to alleviate the initial fear that he had planted!

Tuesday, we brought Dad home. He was terribly tired and exhausted from the surgery. (At least that's what we thought was making him so weary!)

Wednesday morning, he had an appointment with his family physician. We found out then that the anesthesia used for his surgery had thrown him into a case of double pneumonia. ARGH!!!!!!! He would need daily shots of antibiotics as well as other antibiotics in pill form. To our surprise, Dad was still allowed to go back to work Wednesday afternoon. Of course, being the stubborn person that he is, he did exactly that!

Skip to Friday and Saturday. Due to the stress, I believe, tempers were getting pretty short in my house. Things got so bad between hubby and I that he left Saturday. Panic city!!! I thought for sure that our marriage was over. Sunday afternoon, he came home and, with the guidance of a terrific friend, we talked things out. The ground between us is still a little shaky, but we will work through it.

I have never heard anyone say this before but, I'm so glad it's Monday!!! :-)  The start of a new and, hopefully, better week!!

Hang in there even though it seems tough. I've been through almost the same situation when my Father-in-Law was in hospital with cancer.

It was very hard on my wife and I as she had to do everything to help her her Mom. Needless to say that our relationship was strained, but we got through it, thank God!

I will say a prayer for you if you don't mind, we need all the help we can and faith sure did help my wife and I.

Kindest wishes, Steve

Heartache comes from every direction sometimes, but you just have to struggle on, and eventually happier times will come again. I wish you well, Karen

Catch you later, Bill. :-) {v} :-)
