  • Just a quick note.  I am still alive in Oregon.  I do miss being able to Xanga once in a while and talk with Xanga friends.  I'm using my sweet DIL's laptop for this.  Not really missing modern technology too much.  I only get one TV station but it is enough to see the news now and then.  Most everything else on TV is pure garbage in my opinion.  Hey, I turned 60 in May so I get to have an opinion (come to think of it, I've always had one).  I have the time for more reading so I am enjoying that part.

Doc says I have some kind of thing on my kidney but after much testing he has decided not to do anything about it right now.  I will have to assume he knows what he is talking about.

The failing economy has affected me as well.  I wonder how many in Xangaland are feeling the bite of high gas and food prices.  I mean a bite big enough to make you change your lifestyle?  I am so blessed that I have my "kids" to help me out.  For now, I'm living in my son and DIL's 25 ft. travel trailer that is parked on their ranch.  The ranch is beautiful and I have been able to feed a large flock of various birds around the trailer.  I'm parked on the hillside among many oak trees and all my houseplants are living outside.  DIL even built a pole fence, planted grass and laid a broken brick pathway to the trailer door.  (Told you she was sweet).  Sons Ron & Ray moved me in and Ron did much work to prepare a pad, fix the electrical hook-up and much more for me.  I counted the bird types and came up with 25 the other day.  Bald eagle and osprey are among those.  Last night, I had a masked visitor and I'm sure he could be mighty mean but he was more interested in the hamburger bun I threw in the yard for the birds than he was in me.  What a huge raccoon he was!

My son, Ron and DIL, Tage took me to the Oregon coast last week.  What a wonderful trip it was.  I had never seen that part of the coast before.  Maybe I will get a chance to post some of those pics soon.  Had a great family cookout this past weekend too.

Okay.....this is not a quick note now.  Hello to all those in Xangaville.  I pray that all is well with you.

  • As of today, I will no longer have internet.  I say thanks to the friends I have met on Xanga for your kind words.  I pray for nothing but the best of everything for everyone.

  • ROUTINE

Most of us love to have our little routines.  It's kind of enjoyable and in a way, reassuring, that all is well in our tiny corner of the world.  What about when routine does not produce enjoyment?  When we find ourselves just "going through the motions" of life, it's time to step out of our rut.  My kids can tell you,  I have often said, "If something is wrong in your life and you don't know joy, you must change your life".  I need to practice what I preach.  Sometimes, marching to that familiar beat can lead us down a path where we have an unplugged heart.  Besides, it can also make us just too self serving.  Can we get too old or too busy to have passion, excitement or interesting goals in our lives?  I don't believe it!!  Nope.

In the account by Luke of when Jesus visited the house of Martha and Mary (Luke 10:38-42), you can see that Martha was very much in her hospitality routine.  As a matter of fact, she was none too happy with Mary for sitting to listen at the feet of Jesus rather than helping her serve, cook and clean.  Martha even complained to Jesus, "Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone?  Therefore tell her to help me."  Jesus answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things.  But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her".   It could not be that Jesus was rebuking Martha because of the work she had done, for faith without works is dead (James 2:17).  Perhaps Jesus wanted her to understand and value her personal relationship with Him more than she valued her comfortable "routine" of hospitality.

These scriptures and thoughts that I am reviewing for a Bible study tomorrow have really stirred my own opinion of routines and choices.  Is there nothing new that God can say to me?  Of course there is.  Have I landed where I need to be spiritually?  Not even close.

God is not about stagnant, routine lifestyles.  Isaiah 42:9 declares, "Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I declare; Before they spring forth I tell you of them."  I'm ready, willing and able to listen and step forth for God.  Yes, that is where the passion, the excitement and the growth lies.

I AM HAPPIEST AS HIS VINE

Hmmm..........I'm trying to change my skin.  Xanga skin that is, so you may see strange things here.

I do send prayers for all of those affected by the tornadoes in the south.  A very scary and terrible thing to go through.

Not much happening in my neighborhood.  Just quiet days and there are many things worse than quiet days.  Next weekend I'll be going to a custom car show.  I love to see the cars and hear the old music.  I do enjoy antiques of every kind.  This weekend, I may go to the nearby Rock Museum.  Never been there before but I became interested in rocks because my mom was a bit of a rock hound when I was a kid.  She had a tumbler and had some jewelry made from some pretty rocks and semi precious gems she found.  Since I plan to go with a friend of mine who is a retired geological engineer, it will be even more interesting.

Have a good, relaxing weekend filled with blessings!
