So… I haven’t posted anything for a long time… what prompts me to post now? Directv installers… no, not Directv itself, but the outsourced installers… I’ve always had trouble with them, and today was just outrageous.
We get a phone call at 8am from the installers telling us that they’ll be here between 4 and 8pm… mom asked if they could come any earlier, the response was it’s not possible. That’s fine. So, it was 2:30pm… the door bell rang… I get the door, there are the installers who couldn’t possibly come earlier than 4pm. That’s not a big deal. I was home.
They walk into the room… I tell them that the new DV-R will be installed on the same tv. We already have 1 DV-R on there, but since we travel so much and watch so much tv, another one was needed. I didn’t tell them the story behind the 2 DV-Rs… simply told the installers where to install… the response was “why?” I didn’t care to answer his question… just showed him the HDMI slot… like it’s any of their business why I want to have 2 DV-Rs… anyway… they were rude in their tone the whole time, so why am I gonna bother to be nice.
So, they keep doing the installation and what not… I just sat around and waited. Then, towards the end of the installation… one of the guys shoved all the papers to me for me to sign. The installation wasn’t complete yet, but I signed them anyway… thought the installation would be just fine. So, the other guy finishes up the installation… I ask them if the 2 remotes would interfere… they said no. So, the installation is complete. They leave.
Like 15 minutes later, I check the Comcast for stuff to watch… yes, we have a Comcast DV-R too… anyway, the Comcast was dead. Reset it… didn’t help. AH!!!!! So, I called the installers up to ask them if they did anything. He said no. OK… so I called Comcast to see what’s up. Nothing wrong on their end. So I just made an appointment for Comcast to come out and check on the DV-R. Then, decided to call Directv cos the installers were really rude and I think they messed up my Comcast. Got a technician on the phone, and while figuring the mess out, we realized the remotes interfere with each other. They’re universal remotes. Tried to fix them… thought they were fixed… found out later… can’t fix them. Anyway, the technician was really nice and said that he put in a report on the installer.
A couple of hours later, the door bell rings… it’s the installer. He asked if he left a tool here. I said I didn’t see anything, and since he’s here I asked about the Comcast thing. He said he didn’t have anything to do with Comcast, and I went outside the house with him to look at the lines and stuff. Fine… whatever… by then I just didn’t care what he said. Cos it’s not like he can fix it anyway. Then, I let him back in the house to look for his tool, and somehow the other installer came in with him. I told him that Directv is sending me another person to fix the Comcast anyway, so it’s ok. Then, he completely flipped. As if his rudeness couldn’t get force… he started going on and on… if he doesn’t get paid for this install cos I called Directv, he’s gonna have to charge me the $60. I said, u’ll have to take that up with Directv. He insists that I’ll have to pay if he doesn’t get paid. Then, goes on in a threatening tone, if he doesn’t get paid, his supervisor will come talk to me and take pictures of the house to prove that they didn’t mess up my Comcast. And then, well, he didn’t find his tool so he was walking towards the door… both of them actually about to walk out… and they wanted to show me that they had nothing to do with the Comcast again or something??? Cos as they were walking out, he was still saying stuff about how the Comcast line is no where near the Directv lines. I just shut the door behind them. Picked up the phone and called Directv again. Told the guy on the phone what happened… while I was on the phone, the door bell rang, I just didn’t answer it. and told the guy on the phone, I just want them gone and don’t want them to ever come back. The guy apologized and everything, and he said that if these guys try to come back, I should call 911.
It probably sounds like I overreacted… but I don’t like to be threatened, and seriously, when did these service people get so rude??? I know they’re rude in general, but these people were just unbelievable. I hope I got them fired!
