  • The 'meaning of life'

So many people are stuck asking themselves, and the universe, 'What is the meaning of life?' I mean, in and of itself, that's a rather loaded question!

Maybe we should be less concerned with what the 'meaning of life' is and more with what meaning we give to it. That's what really matters anyway. At the end of our existence, whether it be tomorrow or next month or 60 years from now, it won't matter what questions we asked or what everyone else thought, but what answers we found within ourselves.

Basically life means whatever you want it to mean. It's what you make it. It's how you live it. It's the discovery of your own inner significance. If you sit around waiting for others to validate you or spoon feed you all the solutions to life's problems, you'll come to find that things are a whole lot more complicated than that. They are not you are not me. It is impossible to narrow it down to a science. There is no universal magical answer to everything. There is no almighty secret. Only what we choose to see and believe and postulate.

And at the end of life, what comes then? We'll never know until we get there. It's either something or nothing. Yet meanwhile it's beyond our mortal comprehension, just like our time here. It's all a mystery, life and death alike. We never know what's coming. All we can do is live the best we can with what we have, who we are, and what we may think we know.  That's all any of us can do.

    Dark Knight...a great night

Wow. Dark Knight...what a movie! Seriously. I'm basically speechless. Maybe it's partially because it's 4 in the morning and I've been up for 21 hours haha. That aside, I can't suitably describe the movie. You have to see it for yourself. (And I suggest that!) All the hype is appropriate. Heath Ledger, despite the consequences surrounding his life, did an INCREDIBLE job with his role as the joker. He was perfect. Almost too. I think the proper term would be, overall, freaky. Dark and disturbing, the movie itself was very very good. But he was definitely the highlight.

I went with a bunch of people to see the first showing at midnight, a last minute plan for me (thanks to Tony!), and it was fucking great. After waiting 2 hours in our seats, yes, 2 hours, having gotten the best seats in the house, the movie was spectacular; all that I had hoped it would be. It was creepy, shocking, powerful, well put-together in its entirety and...well, really fucking creepy!!! I don't think they could have done a better job with it. The characters were right on. The plot line was intense. All in all, it deserves the attention it's getting. I would see it again. And the movies aren't cheap anymore, so you knowwww it's got to be good for me to say that!

So go see it! As for me, I have to go to bed. I feel like I've been awake for days. I'm like a zombie ahhh. And at the same time, my head is running all over the place, which makes sleep hard to reach. Oy. Story of my life.

  • What has been the biggest challenge in your life so far?

Life itself is the biggest challenge we all face. Learning how to live it to its fullest and truest, by knowing ourselves fully and truly, is the challenge above all others. I've come to learn that so many things don't matter. It's not healthy to worry about things that we cannot change or have no control over. Nor is it healthy to constantly worry about things we that can change, or perfect, shall I say, because that list is endless. What really matters is finding oneself and one's own true happiness, and not worrying about what other people may think or what society tells us. What makes the difference is being the difference, rather than falling under the reign of some abstract intangible pressure that looms overhead. If each of us could break free from the bonds of closemindedness and create a new concept of living , on our own terms, yet still without violating the terms of others, we would all be living much better lives and, idealistically, in a better world overall. It's not about status or reputation, possessions or pride. It's about individual, moral, fulfillment along with harmony with those in the world around us; acceptance and endurance, liberation and illumination. Fuck the cliches and stereotypes that plague our generation. Fuck suppression, conformity, and all things that stifle the human spirit. Be who you are. Live the life you want to live. Treat others how you want to be treated. Ultimately, in a time when freedom is still a struggle, that is the challenge.

I just answered this Featured Question, you can answer it too!

@MuroToBe - True. The whole transition of high school to college is really icky. And college itself is weird because we're not quite adults but not really kids anymore. It's a very strange time in life; very hard! I think it's that we're still finding ourselves. We're finding our direction and tryin
