My Grandfathers are incredible men. They are each physically tough beyond comprehension. I know how tough I think I am, this endurance athlete, but Grandpa Rindler has crippling arthritis, and he still keeps his vegitable garden going, sometimes laying down in the rows between the bean plants because he cannot bend to pick them. He taught each of his children and grandchildren to, "Back-back" down the stairs so we wouldn't fall when we were young. He carried my grandmother to bed when she couldn't walk up the stairs when she was pregnant. 9 for nine different pregnancies. He raised a family that has stayed closer then so many others, and one which knows how much we owe him

My Grandfather Pera is the Ironman. A die-hard conservative, the word Clinton is the worst epiteth for him. He still isn't completely gray, even at 88. He still target shoots, and drives like a maniac. He even mows his own lawn. As my grandma Pera deteriorates, he has learned to cook, to clean, to do the work of two people, and the work of a nurse. My grandmother is essentially and invalid, but she can remain at her home, her home where she raised her four children because of an 88 year old man who still loves her so incredibly much, and who takes care of her. Grandpa Pera was diagnosed with terminal cancer today, 1 year with out chemo, 21 months withit. Of course he went for chemo. And I don't doubt he'll beat 21 months. I don't know by how much, but he will.

Hmmm, so it's only been 2 months since I last updated. I think I'm about due for several. This is a quicky, but there will hopefully be better ones to follow.
It's amazing how a weekend can be so disappointing and so wonderful simulaniously. I didn't get to go to the philharmonic on Friday because no one could go with me, stayed in because I had a race on Sunday, I didn't get as much work done as I wanted, not to mention two of my books going AWOL on me. AND, 5 Rivers Regatta was cancelled, all of which sucked. But you know what? It was still great. We hosted our first Marianist Community dinner at 1316 Brown on Friday for Eileen's floor, which was awesome. And I finally got to go to confession, and I did get a good amount of work done, if not as much as I had hoped. I got to have a wonderful dinner with my family, and go to 8PM mass at UD which is always wonderful. And finally go to confession, which is really a blessing. Not to mention getting to talk to wonderful Ruthie a good bit. I really am ridiculously blessed.
OK, I got a run, because it is Marathon Monday, the longest day of the week for me. I hope everyone is doing well, and I'll try and update later this week.

So last night was  wonderful, but ridiculous. Ruth and I went down to PCL Week Three and visited, which was awesome. It was great to see everyone, and I was suprised how many people I knew. I'm so looking forward to all the new Chamies, as well as another GDRA kid in UDCrew. w00t.
But the best part was the large block of time I got to spent with Ruthie. It was so awesome. And leaving was hard, so I can't imagine what it's going to feel like on Saturday.
But here's where the night gets ridiculous: So I get home, and my ever considerate family locked the chain lock on the door, so I spent a good little bit braeking into my own house. Luckily, I have developed techniques for that.
Then, once I got in, I heard a strange dripping sound from the kitchen. Apparently, our toilet overflowed and seeped down through the floor all over the kitchen. So I eventually got to bed about 3:30AM. Needless to say, I was a bit zombish when i woke up at 6 to drive mom to work.
Other then that. I need to get training hardcore, but this weather is just a little too hot to get on the river during the day, and I'm not going to sacrifice time with Ruthie. But, all too soon, I'll be back in the saddle. Or boat. whatever

So so much to update...
First of all, I'm currently sitting in a beach house in the Outer Banks of North Carolina with my dad's extended family. w00t! It's wonderful, but it is certainly a trip to get here. I was travaling for over 20 hours straight and covered over 5000 miles, which is no small thing. Needless to say, I'm a little jet lagged.

Hawaii was freaking awesome!!! Seriously if you ever get a chance you should really take it, because it is absolutely one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. We did so much snorkeling, and I actually ran into a giant sea turtle. Literally, I didn't see it because I was looking down and bumped into him. There were a huge number of amazing flora and fauna, but I think my favorites were the sea turltes, the manta rays, and the baracuda. Even out of the water, it was amazing. We got to go to the top of Mauna Kea and Haleakala, 14,000 ft and 10,000 ft elevation, respectively. The tours of hte observator on top of Mauna Kea, the Gemini Telescope was amazing. The whole trip felt like I was in a NOVA episode.

Before that, since i seem not to have mentioned it, I got to go to Notre Dame to visit Ruthie which was just phenomenal. I can't explain how great that weekend was, the time I got to spend with her, the midnight walk around the grotto and Lake St. Mary's It was so nice.
Speaking of which, just 4 more days until I see her!!!!!

Alright, I'll be in touch
