ready for rachel's insane weekend?

friday - skipped calc in the morning cause i had my exam the night before, went to bible as lit, but on my way to west civ was convinced by erica to skip, lay out on the grass on a blanket, basking in the warmth of the sunlight, eating popsicles, listening to music, sleeping the afternoon away, went to hillel for services, then went to the visions gospel choir in graham chapel, came back to the forty, had ice cream, played guitar, went to bed

saturday - woke up at 8 am, went to bais abe for orthodox services, had lunch at hillel, came back, took a nap, went to thurtene carnival, dinner in small group then all student theatre's production of pippin, came back, bout to do work then go to bed, but erica and betsy dragged me to the kappa sig party, then went to bed

sunday -woke up at ten this morning, went to palm sunday services with anisa and betsy, came back, went to brunch, took a nap, went to thurtene carnival, saw my friend mike's show, ate dinner w/ pam, went to a givens ambassadors meeting, just got back and copied the first calc problem

in other news, got a new screenname: rachitect06

wow, been quite some time since i posted.  i'm not even going to try to explain the fun/madness that has happened since i last posted - and boy has there been some.

i've just going to state quite simply that Bauhaus was fuckin' incredible and if you are in architecture and you didn't go, you missed out BIG TIME.  i just hope my pictures come out well.  i'm sending the first roll off today and then the second whenever i finish it.  it was absolutely wonderful getting all snazzed up, fancy, and with my wonderful archibuds - erica, pam, anisa, betsy, jared, tyler, and fernie to name a few.

yeah, some people got kicked out for underage drinking, but who can keep resourceful architecture students from sneaking their way back inside - so *that's* why they teach us problem solving skills!  good times from our auction entry of "Sheet Metal and Jim's Pop Rivets" to seductive dance moves to Miss Helsinki to falling down dancing the Hora (and tyler thought he would be learning a real dance) to some of the most outrageous sunglasses to grace the tenth floor of city museum/wow!

sure, transportation back sucked, but we had our own little after party down in liggett lobby complete with apple jacks, girl scout cookies, guitar, and jared (he's quite the entertainer).

well, time for laundry and the massive amount of work i have to do since i got NOTHING done this weekend.  :)

well, i've finally not been so stressed that i now actually have time to procrastinate by writing another xanga entry.

this week has been crazy what with my model due for studio, a double dose of statics problem sets, and too much jew stuff for one week - meetings, elections, and waking up obscenely early to act like santa claus with bagels, and JEWZAPALOOZA.  yeah, don't ask.  The coolest news:  Betsy and I got matching hebrew necklaces (mine is Resh-Het-Lamed and she has Bet-Tzadee-Yud) and I got to drool over Evan Weiner dancing, playing ga-ga, and just generally being hot.

other good news for the week:  i have suitemates for next year - erica, evin, and sarah!  woohoo.  i'm getting a single ;)  expensive, oh yes, but most sophomores have singles so i don't feel too guilty about thrusting my parents further into debt.  oh, actually, put in that terms, i do.

anyway, i'm already looking forward to next year - i've planned out my schedule and i'm taking two architecture studios, an architecture lecture class, diff eq, deformable bodies, and hebrew in the university college (i'm thinking P/F)!  get excited folks!  rach the non-jewish jew just might lead kabbalat shabbat by senior year.  oh wait, no, i can't sing.  well, we can always hope.

that's all for now.  virginia folk, i look forward to seeing you this summer!

sorry for posting so much at once and looking like shuj's russian politics reading, but it's so rare that i have an opportunity to post.  generally only when i'm skipping a class, as i'm doing with calc as we speak.

anyway, big news in my life:  i'm sick.  pooey.

i started to feel sick monday night after the purim parties (no, not from alcohol) and i've been trying to self-medicate: lots of sleep, lots of OJ, as little of sugar as i can.  that was going well until i got no sleep wednesday night thanks to jim and his portfolio page request.

i also saw an interesting documentary called "Trembling Before G-d" about gay and lesbian orthodox and chasidic jews.  random topic, right?  anyway, very interesting, and the director was on hand to answer questions and such.  made me realize a) wow, i so don't belong in the orthodox community, and b) the conservative mov't needs to be a lot more accepting of these people, and it pisses me off, and c) our gov't disgusts me in that it does not grant gays the rights and responsibilities that come with a legal union, and d) it's so sad that families can reject one of their members because of something they have no control over (and IMO, something that's not even a negative thing, just a difference)

anyway, i need to shower and possibly shave.  i'm hoping that i'll feel better and can go to services tonight then early to bed!

was that short enough for you shujies?  love you and miss you all, shujies included!!!!!!!!!!!!

well, this has been an exciting weekend thus far.  had a nice workout, shower, breakfast combo on friday in lieu of calculus class.  you don't have to go to class the day after an exam, do you?  hmm... didn't do too hot on the calc exam but still ended up about one std dev above the mean - we'll have to see how hand-graded goes...  at least my west civ grade is good?

anyway, enough about classes, on friday afternoon, we decided to go to the ZOO!  little did we know that the person leading us didn't know the best route (it's okay, anna!), so we ended up a bit lost and had to trespass through construction, which i later learned is being done by CH2M Hill, the company i worked for last year and will work for this summer so long as they don't find out about my little trespassing incident.  no, it was no big deal, we just got a little muddy;  er, ameet got very muddy, but the ladies ended up all right.  we ended up going to the art museum instead which was fun and we saw some cool paintings and sculptures.  then of course we had to check out the gift shop where ameet and i discovered we could not buy the purdy necklace because it was 29,000 bucks so we bought candy instead.  yeah, we're cultured like that.

so, we had to walk back because people had places to go and i decided to go to hillel because we were passing it at 6, so why the hell not?  well, i was very underdressed and a bit muddy, but luckily no one seemed to mind.  had nice conservative services (ha, i'm one of the most liberal people i know, but i have a CONSERVATIVE side - riiiiiight.) and a nice chicken dinner with hamantaschen.  well, neither the chicken nor the hamantaschen were super, but i enjoyed the salad.  enjoyed some singing post-dinner with some heavy banging on the table (we finally managed to knock the water bottles over.) then chilled for the rest of the night at ursa's with jen and sarah.

slept late on saturday then went to brunch with caroline and other est erica.  ha, it was great because they were having a health fair.  check out what i got:

a plastic key chain that you can open up and has a condon inside, an instruction sheet on condom use, a kimono microthin condom, a lifestyles ultra lubricated condom, and Wet (R) sugar-free, non-staining flavored lubricant (passion fruit no less).  really glad it's sugar-free.  wouldn't want some diabetic to drop down into a coma while giving head.  so that was exciting.

i also got my job offer in the mail from ch2m hill and discovered that in addition to paid holidays, i get accidental death and dismemberment coverage.  whew, that's a relief.  (or is it?)

went down to givens in the afternoon to attempt to turn Juan Gris's Portrait of Josette (his wife) into a 3D free-standing thingamajigger.  had linner with erica, tyler and julia, which was nice and caught up on the latest architectural gossip (someone please shoot me).  witnessed an arrest also.

well, so my night was fairly weird, had a nice talk with jared.  he's great, i really like him.  went to kappa sig and talked to this random pakistani guy.  the room was definitely browntown - two nepali, an indian, and a pakistani - so i felt right at home. :)

ended up at the theta xi party which sucked because mike wasn't there and the only guys dancing were.... REALLY FREAKY.  so left that, stopped by Relay for Life, probably inadvertently gave other jen the impression that i was drunk, went back to liggett.  went over to ursa's and hung out with other jen, erin, and their friend from cornell steph while they ate ice cream and i waited for the eliot crew.  informed other jen that i gave up ice cream for lent.  she was impressed, then after a minute, turned to me and said, wait, you're jewish.  "no, i just to go to hillel every week for the hell of it."  proceeded to explain my weirdness - giving up ice cream, soda, powerade, girl scout cookies for lent,  couldn't quite do the whole no sweets thing.

anyway, ended up meeting the eliot crew at bear's den instead.  had a nice talk then decided it was time for bed.

came back to liggett, played guitar a bit, bout to go to bed when erica comes over.  stay awake for another two hours.  (it's okay, erica!!! it was fun.  i'm not mad at you for keeping me up.)

anyway, good weekend.  have some work to do and got to get to brunch before 2, so i'm outta here!
