| Ok, well, I haven't updated in about five months.
So, for those of you who actually read this, what could could possibly propel me to update after five months of nothing??
I'll tell you what.
The fucking Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences--that's what.
I am so disgusted and angry right now that I am having trouble typing without beating the keys. I watched the oscars tonight, and they were okay. Nothing too bad or funny or anything. They were just, eh, ok. That is, until the very end.
Ang Lee won the Best Director award for Brokeback Mountain, then, not three minutes later, the Best Picture award goes to......CRASH?!
There have been 78 Academy Awards and how many of them have had the Best Picture and Best Director go to the same movie? 57
And in recent years the picture and director award has always gone to the same movie.
But, no, not this year. Because the academy is composed of conservative, right-wing, homophobes.
This is the biggest upset since Steven Spielberg won Best Director for Saving Private Ryan, but Shakespeare in Love won Best Picture in 1998.
Brokeback won best film at Venice, the Golden Globes, at the British Film Awards, and at the Independent Spirit Awards. It also won the Directors Guild award, the Writers Guild award and the Producers Guild award. But no Oscar. That's because the Academy went for the "safe" social issue (i.e. racism) over the controversial one (i.e. homosexual relations).
In fact, no other movie in the history of these awards shows has ever won the Directors Guild award, the Writers Guild award and the Producers Guild award but not the oscar. NOT ONE! What does this say about the academy?
Brokeback Mountain was a heart-wrenching movie that was based on Annie Proulx's beautiful and tragic story of lovers who could never be accepted in mainstream society. Forget that it was "the gay cowboy" movie, it was a love story that transcended labels and sterotypes. IMO, it is one of the best movies ever.
There have been many films made that tackled the subject of racism in society-- To Kill a Mokingbird, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?, and many more, but Brokeback Mountain was one of, if not THE first movie to tackle homosexual relationships in a way that is tactful yet still powerful. It broke barriers.
Don't get me wrong, I know that Crash is a good movie, and I'm not racist, but I mean, come on. In 10 years, which movie do you think people will still be talking about? Brokeback Mountain. It had a profound effect and is still. I mean, 'brokeback' has been coined as a new word. But Crash? Crash who? That's what people will say 10 years from now.
There are just no words to express the rage and anger I am feeling right now.
Sorry to anyone who read this, but I needed to vent.
~EDIT~

| OK, I guess I'll update since I've been getting yelled at by people for not doing it.
Well, college is interesting. It's not really hard, it just takes a lot more effort. So far I'm doing okay, except for Biology. I have 4 different professors for it. There all really good and stuff, but man it is sooo detail oriented. I guess I just have to get used to it though, seeing as how that is my major. My other classes are pretty good though. Spanish is kinda hard, but I guess I should have expected that seeing as how I started in third semester. Chemistry is easy, so far.......Thanks to Winter!!!!!!! History is eh, lots of reading and papers. Religion is different. I am not a very religious person, like I don't go to church or anything, so it's really interesting to be in a room with like 20-25 other people who do. (Although one girl did declare herself to be agnostic)
In other news..........TCU IS 3-0 IN Mountain West Conference!!! 4-1 overall (Stupid SMU) GO FROGS!!!!
I had my 19th birthday. What did I do? you ask.......I had taco bell and went to see Corpse Bride, which was just kinda eh/okay. Yes that is how I celebrated my bday, although I did that stuff with Maddie, and she just always makes things more interesting!! I did get one present though: the Desperate Housewives 1st season DVD. Who did I receive this great gift from?? Yes, it's sad..........myself.
It's really funny though. I bought that DVD and Maddie and I started watching it and we only got through one show cuz we started at like 1am and we were tired. But then this past weekend we were at my house on Saturday and we watched like 4 more episodes. Then we decided to go to Heather's. So we go over, and Heather is like "OMG You watch DH?! So do I" So of course, we sat and watched like 7 more episodes. Maddie has now seen 12 episodes. Only 11 more to go til we're done!! lol It's funny though, she's like addicted. But, you know, that show is pretty addictive, so I can understand.
Umm.....Oh, this Friday I am supposed to go to the State Fair, but I might not get to now. IDK, it's kinda up in the air. I really want to go, cuz Jeopardy is going to be there and me, being the nerd that I am, want to audition. My mom has to work in the morning though, and now she says she doesn't even want to go. So maybe I can convince Maddie to go, and we can just go by ourselves. I saw a coupon in the Star Telegram today for 2 free tickets to the fair on Friday. But only if you have a Gold Level Press Pass...............well, my grandpa does, and he gave me and my mom one of the little things that goes on your key ring so maybe now we'll go just cuz we can get free tickets. Oh, and I saw that on Friday with the Gold press pass thing, you can get 2 free tickets to six flags too, hmm, interesting.....idk what's going to happen.
GRRR...... I have to go study for my Chemistry quiz tomorrow, Religion test on Thursday, and History quiz on Thursday........GRRR...................wish me luck, and leave me love, otherwise I just won't waste my valuable time updating this.
| Ok, so it's been a while since my last entry.
What has happened since then..........
Hmm, well, more work, but hey, it's money. My last day is August 28th! YAY FOR NO MORE WORK! (for now at least)
Well, Maddie and I got desperate. We were really bored and needed something to do on a Tuesday night so............we saw Sky High. It was ok. I wouldn't go see it again or anything, but eh, it wasn't too sucky. It was, however, VERY predictable. We were like predicting what was going to happen next for the whole movie. What was even better is that there were like 5 other ppl in the theater, and for some reason, they had it showing in a HUGE theater. So Maddie and I walked all the way up to the very last row at the top. Then for the whole movie we were talking and on the phone and at one point Maddie like layed down across 3 or 4 seats. lol fun fun
Then, since we just have no lives, the next night we saw The Dukes of Hazzard. It was pretty good, and what was even better is that we were cracking up at the fact that Jessica Simpson had like 10-15 lines in the whole movie. The rest of the time, her boobs and ass spoke for her. lol
Hmm, got some new clothes. Yesterday I took Maddie school supply shopping. Dang, that stuff is expensive. Why the hell do 8th graders need "multi-color office paper" and "a 10 pack of dry erase markers"? Anyways...
I GOT AN IPOD!! An iPod mini, and it's pink!! YAY!! I already have like over 200 songs on it. lol It's so awesome. And, it plugs into my car, so i can listen to all my music on the car stereo too!! YAY!!
Well, I just foudn out that I have to baby-sit tomorrow. It's my day off, but Mrs. Saracay's usual baby-sitter just had a root canal so she's doped up on medicine. And they need someone to watch Dewey (her real name's Rocio which is Spanish for dew drop, hence her nickname- Dewey). My cousin Ashley was going to do it, but her plane from New Orleans couldn't land here in DFW cause of weather or winds or something, so they had to land in Austin. Therefore, Jayme gets to baby-sit instead. Oh well, I like Dewey, she's so cute, and they're leaving me a car seat so I can take her to my house after her morning nap so it won't be too bad.
Hmm, well, I guess that's about it. Arlington starts school tomorrow, but not me!! Not anymore!! woo-hoo
So, I guess I will now post the "Sign/Headline of the Day" hope you guys like it. Leave me comments!!!! Show some love!
Ok, this is a two parter........here is the first part........

Now for the second............lol..........this is the pic with that article

Yeah, that's good. lol Bye for now
| Ok, so watched a movie with Maddie last night. It's been out for a couple of years, but I never saw it before. It's called The Virgin Suicides. Let me tell you, it was a VERY strange movie. Even though I payed attention the whole time, I was still like, wow.
Yeah, so I just spent like the last 3 hours or so cleaning out stuff from my closet and dresser. I think I threw out like over half of my clothes and stuff. Trip to Mission Arlington tomorrow. Yesterday I cleaned out this filing cabinet I had and my bookshelf. Yes, I'm getting new furniture!!!!! My mom is taking the filing cabinet to SHHS to use. I think Maddie is going to get the dresser and bookshelf, and as for the microwave stand that my TV/DVD player are on now, I couldn't care less what happens to it. I think it's from the 80s or something. lol
I'm getting an Armoire for my TV/DVD player and the stuff that is in my dresser now, and a new computer desk/workstation thing. Then, instead of a new bookshelf, I'm getting wall shelves. YAY!!
Ok, so here's the next sign of the day:
Sorry Adil, no roadkill...........

| Hmm.....
Well, I saw March of the Penguins. It was pretty good and the penguins were cute, except when they were either being eaten by a seal, or frozen solid!!!!
Anyways, got to see my baby cousins today. They're so cute!!! Makenna is 2 and Trey is 3 months. I took pics of them and then printed them when I got to work. That was cool.
Not much else to say.
Oh, I have decided that I am going to post a random "Stupid/Funny Sign of the Day"
Here is the first one:
Yeah, you gotta love that. More to come later...
