Tonight was fun. Our gals left early . So then we found some new gals . Best part was that I was able to get some dance on with gals without having to booty dance .

Some of the evening's conversation was rather refreshing too.

Do you think that we seek someone with similar interests in an effort to be more appreciated ourselves? It's a rather self-centered thought, and while it may not be the sole reason (for example, similar interests implies understanding of eachother and more fun), I wonder how much it has to do with anything. This leads to thoughts about mis-self-impressions -- the idea that what we think of ourselves is incorrect, so if we seek after someone that we think will appreciate us, but since we don't really have the properties that we want appreciated, that we will never be satisfied (assuming this is our sole reason for attraction)

And yes, if someone else turns in an answer that is clear and easily understandable, and you turn in an answer that is a bit vague and more difficult to understand, the other person deserves a better grade than you do. Presentation counts! Even research papers that are poorly written are discarded for crappy English. It is a rare scientist that is able to publish his results without clear presentation. Crappy work gets done in industry all the time, but it is my job to ensure that UTCS graduates don't naturally do crappy work, but instead are practiced in, able to, and inclined to write clean and elegant code.

I feel like there's the rule that students don't really pay attention to your comments unless you take off points for their mistakes. As such, I tend to take a lot of points off. This doesn't work in a class that's not advertised as curved, as it pisses people off.

Where to live

It's hard to pick a place to live. I'm trying to decide whether I should live between my three friends in the bay area or whether I should pick one and live by them. Also to consider is where other interns might be living. At least they give some stats on interns that help shed light on the situation.
