For all ye who gave up Facebook for Lent, good for you. To help you with keeping that promise, here are the announcements for this week. Enjoi!

(1) This coming Saturday is VOX DEI, where we'll be focused on prayer. Prayer, as we all learned in Jr. High BDG, is a communion with God. It is vital for everyone who claims to have a relationship with Him. So please come.

(2) JUNIOR HIGH RETREAT is February 22-24. Deadline's approaching.

If you are going, please turn your permission slips to Pastor Ben ASAP with a check for $125 (or $70 if you're coming from Solo/Ensemble). If Pastor Ben's not available, give it to Jon Mann! Get it in!

If you're leaving Friday afternoon, please meet at WCAC at 4:00 pm or 4:30 pm at Lombard Bible Church. If you have Solo/Ensemble, there will be a van heading out on Saturday at 12:00 pm to the Retreat Site. Again, affordability is NOT an issue-- talk to Pastor Ben if you'd like to go but can't afford it. In fact, the only excuse for not going to JHR is if you have school on weekends.

Please pay special attention to the Winter Retreat Handout on the youth group webpage.

(3) Senior Highers will go ice skating on February 23. More information on that to come, but it's really fun so you should come along.

Beware of the Golden Compass

For all those movie buffs out there, I just wanted everyone to be careful of a movie coming out with some really well known actors. The movie is called Golden Compass and is based on a book by Phillip Pullman. In the book, the author is very anti-Christian and it has been indicated that the movie is not as explicit but the themes of being against God and distorting the Biblical accounts of things are there. I would suggest that you really avoid this movie, but if you do watch it to be VERY Careful of the contents and be meditative of thinking how this is bending Truth.

It's time for FOOTBALL!! Everyone's welcome to join in the fun and madness! We will be playing at the Seven Gables Park, but meet at church first. Note: it may snow on Thanksgiving, and if it is not, it will be very cold. DRESS APPROPRIATELY!

Friday, November 23

Service Project!
Sandwich and Street Evangelism: 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Soup Kitchen at local church: 2:30 - 7:00 pm

Sandwich and Street Evangelism: We'll be giving out sandwiches to the poor and homeless on the streets of Chicago. We'll make them Thursday either before or after Turkey Bowl, and then on Friday, give them out! For more information, email Henry. Email Henry by WEDNESDAY night if you are going. We leave church at around 1:00 pm, and we'll be done by around 3:15 pm.

Also, if you have any unused blankets, jackets, scarves, sweaters, or gloves, and would like to give them away to the homeless so the winters won't be quite as cold, please leave your donations at the church kitchen by Thursday night!

After we're done, you can head home, or you can continue and help out with the Soup Kitchen service project which...

Soup Kitchen at local church: ...involves making and then serving food at a soup kitchen to the homeless! This has been a delightful time of fellowship and also serving the poor and the people who don't have families to go to for Thanksgiving. We leave church at 2:30 pm, so be there before then! Email Pastor Ben, Jenn, or Tersy for more information.

NOTE: Both service projects require permission slips!! Email Pastor Ben for them. Also, you only need ONE form if you're going to both.
NHS people-- both are good service hours opportunities. Talk to whoever for verification.

Question Night

We welcome you to our outreach event where we invite you to welcome friends (preferably non-Christian) to ask questions to our distinguished panel of experts on four different (and quite broad) fields. There will be 4 seminars and everyone is welcome to go to some of them to hear from the panelists and also ask questions on a smaller-group scale. This is a very enlightening evening, so come prepared with questions!

Trick-or-Treat for Cans/UNICEF
Please sign up at the youth group door or email people in charge if you're interested. We're collecting cans or money for People's Resource Center and UNICEF. Two locations: Wheaton (meeting at Kt's House), and Naperville (meeting at Josiah's House). APPROPRIATE costumes recommended. Email Katie or Josiah if you're interested, or sign up at the door!

We meet at 6:00 pm, but it is recommended that you come earlier. Both will probably end around 8:00 (or a little later).

General tip: LEAVE EARLY!!

To the Fung's House:
1. Go SOUTH on Naperville Road and then a LEFT on Butterfield. Get on I-355 South.
2. Stay on I-355S.
3. Get off at the 87th Street Exit and turn LEFT. You should be on 87th street.
4. Keep going. It'll become Oldfield Road.
5. Turn LEFT on Robert Road, and then RIGHT on Donegal.

Tip: If you know where to get onto 75th Street, just go west on it, turn RIGHT on Lemont Road, and then left onto 87th or Oldfield. Then follow instruction #5 above.

To the Kwee's House:
1. Go NORTH on S. Blanchard and turn left on the fork to President Street. Keep going and going.
2. Turn RIGHT on Geneva Road. Keep going-- it'll become St. Charles Road.
3. Turn LEFT on N. Columbine Road.. It'll become Rohlwing Road
4. Turn RIGHT on Army Trail Road.
5. Turn LEFT on N. Mill Road.
6. Turn LEFT on Stonemill Avenue, and then RIGHT on Veteran's Parkway.

Tip: If you are speed demons or like shortcuts (and burning fuel), find your way to I-355N and get off at the Army Trail Exit. Follow instructions 4-6. If you know your way around Wheaton, go north on Schmale and turn right on Army Trail and follow instructions 5-6.

1. Service Project this Saturday at World Relief, Wheaton at 11:00 am. If you signed up, you gotta be there ON TIME. More information on rides, etc. later this week.

2. November 3 is Guys/Girls' Night Out. Guys go to Darren's house, and girls go to Hilary's house. More information later.

3. Wednesday (Oct 31) is the YG Trick-or-Treat for cans/UNICEF donations at Wheaton and at Naperville! You don't need an overdose of sucrose/fructose (i.e. candy)-- let's collect canned goods and/or UNICEF money for those who really need it! Again, more information later this week.

4. A friendly reminder to pray for Cambodia and Youth Group prayer requests. By the way, even though we moved on, that does not mean you should forget Uganda. If you remember them, pray for them too! One good way to keep up with prayer requests for Cambodia, Uganda and in general, places in the world, is to check the news (www.bbc.co.uk).

5. A friendly reminder that cleaning up the Youth Room is everybody's responsibility!!

6. If you're in the dance and/or drama team for Revival, please come at 5:30 pm (no later) for practice on the days your group is leading.
