deepest apologies

I am not able to keep up with the duties of being moderator on this site. My father has been ill and is now in a nursing home 50 miles away. I want to visit him as often as possible so that leaves me little time for blogging. With that said, I am going on a hiatus. I hope to be back soon with many new and exciting writing prompts for you. Thank you for your understanding.

Challenge Week Nine

Thanks to all who have participated in last week's challenge. I was not able to comment on all the entries (even though there were only seven) because a lot of my morning computer time is now taken up by a walking program. I imagine spring weather is the reason for lack of particpation, too. It can't be because of my lame challenges.
This week's challenge is to wax poetic about...a bolt.
You can write a poem in any form you like extolling the virtues of a bolt. It can be short and sweet or long and blustery. Just let us know those feelings of love you have for a bolt.

Challenge Week Eight

This week's assignment is to write a how-to manual or pamphlet. Here's how to complete this task.
1. Decide what you want to explain. It can be an object or a concept. Whatever you feel may need explained in detail.
2.From your private page here on xanga, open "Add Weblog".
3. Write your instructions in a clear, concise, manner.
4.Look over your entry. Change what you want: grammatical errors, misspellings, etc. Some people may want to skip over this step because they aren't so regimented (read: anal) in their writing style. That is fine.
5. Once you are satisfied with your entry, post it.
6. Come back to this entry and leave a comment in which you link with your site.
7. Optional: Read and comment on other sites.
**Note: Your entry can include pictures or illustrations; whatever you need to describe your chosen subject.

I can't believe this is week seven already! Last week's challenge was interesting. I loved how it evolved. We will do another round robin in the future.

Challenge Week Six

This week's challenge is going to be a little different. Tater40 (my alter ego) is starting this week's challenge using last week's challenge:

She stood outside the house, peering in the window. There it was on the table beside the couch. A small pencil box, made of wood and decorated with a mystical lady and a moon. It was illuminated by the tiffany-style lamp. It looked like the Holy Grail and in a way it was. It was the object of her quest.

Now, fellow writers, your assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to write the next part of the story. A paragraph or a sentence. It can be in the form of a poem, if you like. It can be sad, or funny. It can be sci-fi or fantasy.

In order to do this, I have made up a list of those of you who have let me know they want to participate. Check this site often, or you may miss your turn. Please write your continuation in the "Comments" of this site. This section should be limited only to the story. If you have other comments, such as how brilliant this idea is or isn't, please leave them on the entry entitled, simply enough, "Comments for Week Six".

I have no idea how this will work, and I'm sure there will be problems. For instance, if the next person on the list hasn't posted, and you're next and ready to post, please wait at least 2 hours. Then the person that missed will be moved to the bottom of the list. Now, I work a full time job and can't be on the computer all the time. I will work on reviewing the list in my free time.
The 2 hour time frame is so that 2 people are not posting at the same time, causing our story to split. If the person before you on the list has already posted and it's only been 5 minutes, go ahead and post your entry. That will keep the story moving.
If your name is not on the list and you would like to participate, leave a comment on Comments for Week Six, again, not the comments on this entry. Please Don't comment this entry. Comments here are for the continuation of the story only.

If you don't have time now, because of spring fever or whatever, just remember some time you have a little free time. Please remember to leave comments.
Now for this week's challenge:
Free write for five minutes, a story, beginning with "He found the cacophony distracting as he walked in the room."
