    Spring Break, here I come!

Right now, I'm just sitting around in my room. Waiting for tomorrow. I've been waiting for a while now. Thursday was the last day of class, which went well, though it was very long. I had been up until 4:30 that morning doing homework. So after 4 hours of sleep, I went to breakfast, chapel, and class. Computer Art was okay... I did a group presentation on exhibiting artist books. Then we listened to a group speaker from the Publications Office talk about using type. Blah. I just wanted to sleep. We got our first project back, and I am VERY pleased. She took three of my images to photograph for the school archives. When I get those back, I need to photograph them for my personal archive. Now I need to figure out how to display them so I can enter it for the student summer show. I'm also excited that I figured out how I will print my book. It will only take one sheet of paper for each edition, which is very financially pleasing. We got out of class very early, which is good because I ate my lunch very slowly that day. I did everything a little more slowly on Thursday... After lunch, I went to the dreaded debate, which actually did not go that badly. I participated, which was the most important part. And I got to talk to some people in that class that I haven't really met yet. I also (finally!) got my history exam back, and I am relieved to know that I did better than I had hoped for. Thursday night was the Solly/Bittner dinner, which consisted of me starting dinner preparations at 4 or so. And then crashing on Corrie's couch while I waited for the lasagnas to bake. But after much running around, we were able to start dinner around 6:30 (though the dinner was supposed to start at 6...) The food was really good, and I think that everyone enjoyed it. What was a little frustrating was doing all the work and not really getting recognized for it. I know that's not the point of doing things for others, but it would have been nice if I received some thanks for putting things together. However, I will hopefully be receiving $5 from everyone to pay me back for the groceries I bought to make the dinner... Anyway, after the dinner I ended up just hanging out in Corrie's apartment and beginning to read for history. The book that I have to read, though VERY long and about history, is not as bad as I thought it would be. It's all oral history, so people's first-hand accounts of their experiences in World War II. Some of it is humorous, some of it traumatic and profound. I'm just hoping I can finish it in time. In time, Corrie, Jeremy, and I were sitting in her living room IMing each other and laughing to no end. But soon, Corrie got sleepy and Jeremy and I headed back to Bittner. But on my way across the bridge to my floor, I saw the rest of Bittner staff below and hurried to join them. We soon were headed for a diner, where we were eventually and randomly joined by other friends from school. And then my pre-break bad luck hit when we returned to campus. I tried to switch the child lock off, but pushed on the wrong thing and broke Becky's door... UGH. I've been frustrated with myself for the past day now. But I have found out that Trent was able to fix it, so now I don't feel so bad. But still, it was quite embarrassing and frustrating to think I might have irreversibly damaged someone else's car... The car that we are supposed to drive down to St. Augustine, FL for Spring Break. It is so close... Just a few hours from now (and by few, I mean 13 hours) we will hit the road and head for Florida. Four of us are going to Anastasia State Park to camp about a mile from the beach. It'll be the first time that I am doing something fun for break (with the exception of this year's J-term break, which didn't exactly pan out), so I am pretty excited! And my parents will be coming down to Florida so we can celebrate Easter with other relatives. I'll be interesting to see how everything goes, and hopefully it goes extraordinarily well! Hope everyone enjoys their Spring Break!

a recap of my (recent) life in a nutshell

School remains to be overwhelming. Sometimes I think it's getting easier, but then I think I've just stopped caring. I've learned to rely on skimming. I'm enjoying Computer Art, but mostly because I love the concept I'm working with. History is horrible, and my least favorite thing to do - debate - is the seminar activity for Thursday. Honestly, Ben and Josh are the only reasons why I don't HATE going to that class.

Res Life continues to be amazing. I'm going to be the SRA in Solly next year, and my staff is incredible. I know everyone on staff, though to varying degrees of familiarity. One is a good friend, one is a resident, a few I've had class with before, and one I've just met but I can tell we'll be good friends very soon. I'm super excited for South Complex next year, because I get to work with Ben and Trent, who are the SRAs for Mountain View and Bittner. Mmmm Bittner love all around.

Spring Break is only a few days away. I just need to get through the next few days. I'll be going to St. Augustine, Florida with a few friends. We'll be camping about a mile from the beach, enjoying the sand and the surf, not enjoying the homework we have to bring with us... Then I will be staying in Florida to spend Easter with some family. It'll be an interesting, but hopefully overall enjoyable Spring Break.

Life is interesting. Relationships are VERY interesting and somewhat complicated and frustrating. I'm slowly learning to take things one day at a time. Live in the moment.

  • *cough cough*

So J-term break has been... interesting. I stayed on campus Wednesday night. Carolyn & I went to the basketball game and met up with Becky and pretty much all of the RDs. After the game, a bunch of us went on a Sheetz run and headed back to Corrie's for a dance party. Fun time, good conversations. Thursday morning I slept in, packed, and got ready for the day. Carolyn & I headed for her house in the afternoon, and we watched a bit of TV when we got there. When Carolyn's sister got home from school, we went to Chocolate World. No one was there. But we went on the "Factory Tour" anyway, got free chocolate, and bought candy bars. We had three rules, though. 1 - had to be less than $1. 2 - it can't be something you can buy at Wal-mart. 3 - it had to last longer than the walk to the parking lot. So I got a Zagnut bar, which is basically like a Butterfinger covered in toasted coconut. It was delicious. Later that night, we ate dinner, played board games, and watched the Newsies. The next morning, we watched a bit of TV and played video games. We were supposed to go to Brenton Good's show in Lancaster later that night, but I ended up going home instead. I have been sick since Sunday, and the roads were pretty bad because of freezing rain all day long. I got home around 7 pm, which wasn't too bad. This morning, I went to the doctor and found out I have bronchitis... So Monday, which is the first day of class, should be an adventure...

  • it's almost over?

I can't believe there are only 2 days left in J-term! Completely crazy! But I'm excited that break is coming up soon, and that means going to Carolyn's and Lancaster and Brent Good's show and home! Yay! So anyway, book making is going well. I missed class today, though, because I was sick. I might have strep throat... Here are pictures of my book making projects:
