  • Something brought me here today.  I haven’t been here since December!  But when I openened up my private page, there it was…Jacob almost one year ago getting ready to go to first grade.  Now here we are going to meet his teacher for the first time today.  It brought tears to my eyes, seeing how proud he was.  Maybe it is time to start blogging again…maybe.

  • Just popping in to wish everyone

     a happy, healthy, fun holiday!

    I will be back!

  • Today was Jacob’s first day of school.  He has been so nervous about going into first grade, going to a new school, not knowing anyone.  When we went to meet the teacher, which I forgot to take a picture of, Jake knew one boy from the pool and then met another who lives down the street.  All was well then.  No more complaining of belly aches once we made it into the room! I did manage to get a few pictures this morning of him as he waited for the bus to arrive.  Yep, I made him ride the bus. Last year I drove him to school for a couple of reasons.  1) School was across the town, literally.  2) The bus driver drove like a maniac in our neighborhood and continued to do so even after many people complained about it. 3) Jake loved having me drive and pick him up each day.  I enjoyed our time together. He did ride the bus once and the next day he said he liked it but he wanted me to take him to school.

So this year I told him it was the school rule that he had to ride the bus.  He did not like that bus, even asked me to take him this morning to school, but I stood strong.  I am sure he made it there, since I have not received a call wondering where he is.  I sure hope he has a great day.  But I have to admit, I do miss him…just a little bit ( I am enjoying the peace and quiet around here for the moment.LOL)

  • I just have to say that I am so loving the weather here in Jersey right now!  They high today is the low 70′s!  It is the end of August…love it!  It beats the continuous 100 degree temps that mi amigos are having down in Texas.  Miss my friends but nothing else about TEXAS! I am really an East Coast girl.  I see that more and more every day.  Right now I am flip flopping on if I want to “retire” with my hubby in Florida or stay up in this part of the country, not necessarily NJ but the North East/Virginia…thankfully we do not have to make a decision right now and I know that when the time comes it will come down to job opportunities.  Hopefully those opportunities are plentiful when the time does come.

Power is due to go off at any minute so I am going to post this and may come back later with more…then again I may not!  Happy Tuesday!

  • HELP!!! I want to go back to the old xanga…I just am not crazy about these themes.  I thought I would try it one more time but I do not like it at all! Please if you know how to go back to the old way let me know.  Thanks!

  • Oh my…it has been a while.  So what is going on with this “Jersey” girl?

We are finally settled into our house.  I must say for base housing it is not bad at all.  I have come to realize that I am not to crazy about the open concept of the Kitchen/living room/dining room combo.  In the kitchen area I can not hear anything if the dishwasher, microwave, garbage disposal or even the water is on.  You can’t hear the TV when any of those things run, plus the fridge runs loudly too.  (Frigidaire…what more do I need to say there?).  So I think if we ever build a house I do not want a completely open concept living area.  Maybe partial.

We have met some of the neighbors and they all seem really nice but there is one problem with all of them so far.  They are all ARMY!!!! I have not met anyone living around us that is Air Force yet, and we are living on the Air Force Base side not the Army side.  Other than that they are pretty great!

Here are just a few pics of the house inside:

We also made it over to the beach.  We had such a great time there.  They are no way near as pretty as Florida Beaches on the Gulf but they were nice. It was hazy and hot, Jake especially loved it.  This was the first time that Jake and Bob had ever been in the Atlantic Ocean.  A momentous occasion! LOL

Tomorrow we are heading out to Hurricane Harbor. It should be a lot of fun.  No promises, but I will attempt to post sooner than later!

We are patiently waiting for school to start.  So use to starting in August but here we do not start until September!  I am so ready for Jake to go back to school.  He’s not!  He wants me to teach him.  HA! I don’t think so.  He has been out of school since May and I have tried to work with him on school related things but it has been hard this summer because of all the chaos of moving.  Soon we will be back into our routine  I hope!

So what is up with the new set up of Xanga?  Not sure I like it.  Where is the editor for your photos?  Some of mine I need to rotate and can’t seem to do that!  Oh well.  Be back soon!

  • Today I have felt like blogging, so here I am.  We are starting to find our way around our new home.  So far we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it.  Of course it has only been 15 days but it has been a good start.  We are still living in TLF (Temporary Living Facilities aka base hotel) but tomorrow we get our house!  YEAH!!!!

We are going to be living in military housing.  We have done it before but this time it is bigger and brand new!  No living in someone elses dirt. HA!  We won’t actually stay there until Friday night because our household goods are not being delivered until then.  That is okay, we are near the end of this fun little adventure we have had.  We have been out of our beds since May 14th…I so can not wait to sleep in my own bed even with its permanent grooves from our bodies.  I can feel the relaxation now.  Not that queen size beds are anything to put your nose up to but once you have tried a King, you will never want to go back!

New Jersey has been completely the opposite so far of what I thought.  When we drove into NJ we got lost in Trenton, big mistake.  Ended up in the wrong part.  The GPS was not cooperating.  Being in the “hood” so to speak, was my first impression of NJ…not necessarily a good one.  Then we got back on track and drove, and drove, and drove, down all these tree lined streets.  I kept thinking that this sure is far from the highway for a base to be located at.  Abilene is country living but McGuire is in the country.  It is out in the middle of no where.  There is no walmart, target, grocery store or nice shopping center with in the city that surrounds the base, if you can call it a city.  But if you drive 20 minutes away anything you are looking for is at your fingertips. So we have been out exploring, spending money, and enjoying life in NJ.

I knew that NJ is known as the garden state but I always thought of this state as more industrial then farm land.  Well there are so many farmers markets here.  I love it.  Everything is so fresh and beautiful.  Can’t wait to keep discovering these farms.  My friend that lives in Princeton has introduced us to one farm that is just awesome.  It is a pick your own farm with a little store on it and beautiful gardens and fields full of all sorts of crops.  They had a little lightning bug festival this pass weekend that was fun.  That is another thing there are festivals for everything here! YEAH US!

Speaking of Princeton, that is only 30 minutes north of us.  What an awesome town.  Great shopping, great food.  So beautiful there.  When we drove around the campus I kept telling Jake that he needs to work really hard in school and earn a paid scholarship to come here one day for school.  His response was “Yeah, right mom.”  A mother can dream.

Well I just wanted to catch up with my few readers.  Hope all is well.  I try to check in when I can but I hope to do better soon.  Missing a lot of my blogging friends.  Take care!

  • We made it to New Jersey!  We have been here for a few days.  Getting ourselves oriented to our new surroundings.  Got a house on base.  Move in on the first.  Once I have my computer back I will be able to download some pictures of everything.  Promise to write more but wanted to let you know I am here and loving it!

  • How much excitement can one take?

It has been a busy couple of weeks since Mother’s Day.  We are in the process of moving from Abilene.  Movers came the Thursday after Mother’s Day and packed every thing up and had it heading out on Friday.  It rained both days but we had enough breaks in the rain that things were pretty well loaded into the truck without getting soaked.  No major catastrophes except that the leg on my kitchen table broke when the movers flipped it.  You should have seen their faces when it fell off.  “We did not do it!”  I just laughed.  It had a crack, which I knew about but never realized it went all the way through.  Oh well, they were nice enough to glue it together for me and hopefully it will be fine when it arrives in New Jersey.

We have been living in our house for the past 2 weeks sleeping on air mattresses, trying to cook a few meals with little pots and pans, sitting in camping chairs.  I am pretty much done with this.  I consider this roughing it.  I am not one who likes to camp.  A camper would be roughing it for me…so you know this is not my idea of the Ritz.

We will be moving into base lodging on Friday and then on Saturday head up to Weatherford to spend time with our friends the Wilson’s.  Bob has to come back here on Monday night but Jake and I are staying there until Bob is done and we head out to Ohio on the 4th of June.  Plan to visit family in Ohio and then get to New Jersey on the 14th of June.

I am so excited about moving.  Excited doesn’t even begin to explain how I feel about moving away from here.  I have made a few good friends and will miss them greatly, but other than that “Hasta Luego Baby!”

I am just happy to be east of the Mississippi.  I have no idea what NJ has instore for us but we will make the best at whatever comes our way.  Hopefully only good things do.  Everyone I have talked to that has actually been stationed at McGuire AFB has loved it.  All the negativity that I hear usually comes from those who have only heard about NJ.  So we shall see, optimism is leading the way.

It may be a while between posts but I plan to keep this up, just for a little while it will be hard while in transition.  Hope all is well for everyone (the few) who still reads this.  Please keep my family in your thoughts and prayers as we travel to our new home.  Thanks!

    Happy Mothers Day Mom.

I love you with all of my heart.  Through out the 41 years of motherhood you have shown me how to love, care, respect, be strong, and think for myself .

    Jake's 3rd Birthday 143

You are such an amazing woman.  You always make sure that you look your best even when you don’t feel well .

You have raised three daughters who have learned so much from you.  I love that I can call you and ask you a simple question like how do you make this or do you know how to do this?

    Florida vacation2006 022

Even though we are many miles apart I feel so close to you because of our daily talks.  Your such an inspiration for me to want to be a strong and beautiful woman.

I love sharing with you all about my son and what he does.

I am so greatful that I can.

I am especially proud of you for trying so hard to beat smoking.  I know how hard it is, but what a difference it makes for you when you don’t let it get the best of you.  Your a fighter.

    zoob-day 006

I love your will to prove that your right (sometimes it is annoying, but you stand up for what you believe in).  You are a beautiful woman and I am so lucky and proud to call you my Mother.
