    Everything Good In My Life

They say you never actually know what you have until its gone. Likewise, you'll never really know just how good you have it until you've gone away. I spent the last 10 days of June in a country exactly 10934 kilometers away from the one I've known all along as home and it was a completely wonderful, much MUCH needed, breath of fresh air.

I loved every second of being in a place totally foreign to me. I loved the newness, I loved the unfamiliarity and now I'm surer than ever that I belong in the West and that is where I'll live happiest. And then again, being so at home in a place that is NOTHING like home, I don't think I've ever been fonder of good ol' Malaysia. So I guess at the end of the day, it will be win-win no matter the outcome.

I used to think that the ONLY THING that mattered was getting to the peak of the mountain. But now I realize that I've had it all twisted. What really matters is not getting myself to the highest point, it's that I've actually climbed. It's that I've been climbing and that I still am.

And now I finally really understand.

It's not the destination. It's the journey.

  • The Return To Innocence

I think I've lost that part of me that used to care so much about people and other feelings not of my own and other thoughts other people have about me. I've never felt SO liberated.
I've never felt so much on the edge.
I've never felt so close to having everything come crashing down.

    It's such an awesome feeling.

Is this what starting over is?
    Is this how rebirth feels?
    God, it's beautiful.

    Absolutely beautiful.

Packing (and unpacking, for that matter) is such a cumbersome activity. Honestly. I wish I was rich enough to hire professional packers each time I'm meant to be taking a trip somewhere. By this time come tomorrow I will already be mid-air and flying goodness-knows-exactly-how-many miles to the United Kingdom to witness and celebrate the occasion of Big Sisters graduation from Law School and whilst everyone is positively on the verge of bursting with excitement, me? I'm more edgy than anything. Goodness even knows why. For some strange reason, it feels like this going away is going to change something. Maybe even everything. It doesn't feel good but then again, it doesn't feel bad either. It's just this rather unsettling foreboding sense...

    Anyhoo.

Yesterdays date with the College Best Friends (plus Jay Mee and Nina) was frickin' awesome!! It was a very much needed reunion and I'm glad we all managed to get-together before I take-off for England and Malcolm returns home to Sarawak. We all had a blast catching up and soaking up each others' company. It's utterly mind-blowing how good these people make me feel. We pretty much laughed the night away.
We had our steamboat dinner at Ikano and then proceeded to Cathay Cineleisure afterwards to catch a movie. But before we went to get tickets, we took silly sticker pictures and the boys (Malcolm and Dixon) had a round of foosball. We settled for the 2140 screening of Made Of Honor which turned out to be a pretty awesome movie. It was heavily peppered with humor but still managed to contain sufficient corniness to fulfill typical romance comedy standards and to those who think Patrick Dempsey isn't much of an actor... well, I agree. But he does have a boyish quirk to him and is very charming so watching him isn't a chore. Michelle Monaghan on the other hand however was stellar and it doesn't hurt too that she reminds me of Sandra Bullock. VERY worth checking out - I rate it five stars!!

So I still have a list consisting of roughly five to ten items of stuff still to pack but Trisha's on her way over right now to collect kG's books. Meanwhile there's lightning and thunder in the sky.
