| NEW PODCAST: Thirty Minute ThursdaysGuess who is podcasting now?
I'm happy to share with you my first forays into podcasting with Thirty Minute Thursdays. As a singer, songwriter, and writer, my most poignant times connecting to God have been tied up with one of these three dominant aspects of my personality. As a worship leader, I try and make time to worship and pour my love out on my Heavenly Abba every day in a way that is authentic to the way in which he has created me. That ends up taking the form of my indie-folkish music you may be familiar with.
These podcasts are a direct insight into that in a way that is completely raw and unedited. They are recorded from my living room with a single microphone. It’s just my voice, my Gibson, and the ambient noises of an apartment complex you’ll be hearing when you listen. Sometimes it’s messy, and other times its hauntingly beautiful. That’s all part of the journey. It is my desire that you experience the presence of God as you worship with me through these thirty minutes each week. Thirty Minute Thursdays is an extemporaneous and prophetic worship podcast featuring one guitar, one microphone, and one heart laid bare before a good and loving God.
I'm still waiting on confirmation from the iTunes Music Store, but until then you can download the .mp3 directly from Will Phillips Dot Org, or go to my channel at odeo.com and listen to the podcast streaming from that website. Check out the most recent podcast (Episode Three) or listen to it on odeo.com! Let me know what you think! Be blessed in the name of Jesus, Will Phillips
| The Complicated GospelNew Blog at Will Phillips Dot Org!To those immersed in the jargon of Christianity and Sunday School curriculum, the crux of the faith - that Jesus' life, death, and resurrection has paved the way for mankind to be reconciled to God - can become comfortably familiar. Yet, to those unfamiliar with the finer nuances of the Christian faith, the Gospel becomes far more complex.Click here to continue reading this blog entry.

| Eight Random Facts(Copied from my main blog, Will Phillips Dot Org.) It's been a while since I've gotten on board one of the memes that float around the internet. But, I couldn't stay gone forever, and when Paul tagged me, I knew it would be only a matter of time until I caved. Well, looks like I caved today. The Whole Truth, and Nothing but the Truth- When I set my alarm for waking up in the morning, or after a Sunday nap, I set it with double numbers in the time (e.g. 7:33, 9:49, 1:21, etc).
- I like to buy books I know I'll probably never get around to reading.
- The big scar on my left elbow is from third or forth grade. It was before school one morning, and I wanted to go ride my bike, even though my mom told me not to. I ended up crashing a few houses down and giving myself a crazy gash on my arm which became the scar. I sure showed her.
- I could probably eat at Chinese buffets for the rest of my life. And then some.
- Girls wearing glasses and knee length skirts make me weak in my knees. Hatchi matchi!
- I really, really want a third tattoo, but there are so many other things I need to spend my money on.
- The reason I drive a truck is because my dad's always driven trucks. It's become kind of a father-son thing.
- I've started journaling more times than I can remember, only to stop a few weeks later (sounds like this blog!). I've come to grips with that, realizing that I process my thoughts out loud and with people moreso than by myself. I guess it's because I'm an extrovert, isn't it?
Tag, You're It!Like any good meme, it's got to perpetuate itself. I'm looking at some fellow non-Xanga bloggers to throw their hats in the rings this time: - Glen Davis
- Randy Lane
- and fellow Portlander, Brian

| Just Around (the) Bend, Literally( Copied from my main blog. ) Guess who's blogging life and direct to you from a city he has never been to before? Yes, that's correct: me. I am in Bend, OR for the next few days to attend the Oregon Network Conference (e.g. District Council): a yearly gathering of Oregon Assemblies of God ministers to conduct business, worship God together, and network. Personally, I'm looking forward to the latter two than the former one, but hey - there's important stuff to be covered this year, namely the nomination and election of a new District Superintendent. But for me and my chronic wanderlust, it's always nice to travel somewhere new, and boy, is Bend / Central Oregon ever someplace new! I'm looking forward to seeing the sites around the area (as I made sure to bring my Fodor's travel guide along with me), but even more exciting is a relatively new friendship I get to build. One half of the incoming PDX Chi Alpha director team, Paul Gibbs, has flown in for district council, and I'll be meeting him face to face for the first time in about an hour when he arrives along with Vic and Kathy. It'll be great to finally connect out here in the real world and not through blogs, emails, and the random phone call. So now, as I sit on the patio of McMenamins Old St. Francis School drinking my Pepsi (andwater), I must say goodbye. My fingers and toes are quickly turning into something resembling frozen Vienna Sausages. I'd rather avoid amputation while I can, and I'm too stubborn to go inside. Let's here it for a few days of interpersonal and geographic exploration - and maybe a few good networking leads, while I'm at it (anyone want to book me for a missions service or contract me for some design work?). | | |
| How the Pentecostal Came to Love the MysticsNew blog post on my blog, Will Phillips Dot org entitled "How the Pentecostal Came to Love the Mystics." Here's some of the intro: Yesterday, I had an Episcopalian brother comment on my Reading Group post. His comments reflect a curiosity that's been directed my way on a somewhat regular basis. In particular, it was this stretch of his comment that I'd like to elucidate upon: ...It is interesting that you have such high regard for St. Francis. ... It is a bit surprising to find someone with an “evangelical” background who has found his way to the Mystical path. I had assumed that mysticism was the sole province of those of us in the liturgical tradition...
Let me be the first to agree with you that it's still surprising to me, at times. Shouldn't I be spending my time pouring over heavy tomes of apologetics & creationism?
Check it out - comments & feedback are always welcome!
