  • First time I’ve been on here since the migration.

    Sigh. Not user friendly.

  • Ok–so how do we download all these years of wonderfulness? In the past I could find a save archive option–but so far can’t find that again. Tried to save before but never worked.

March 20, 2011

  • Well compared to sunny mid 80s yesterday, cloudy low 60s seems cold today, but cooler weather will make the dogwoods and azaleas and other flowers last longer.

We hiked up Stone Mountain to see the Super Moon, but unfortunately didn’t get there in time for actual moonrise.
Actually seemed rather small and yellow, but I think there was haze and thin clouds in that direction. When it was higher up, was brighter and larger looking. I guess I’ve been on top of Stone Mountain before at night–but don’t recall offhand. Was interesting seeing all the lights spreading outward in all directions. And some lightening in the clouds northward.

I think the rabbit is living under an old door leaning against a house a few down, but he still comes to visit, and run circles around me.

Saw Georgia Tech’s Sonic Generator group’s performance at the Woodruff Art Center last Wednesday. They use a lot of lot of tech and computer effects in their performances. Robot playing a xylophone, feedback loops that performers would play with/against, multimedia show with a Philip Glass piece.

And previous Saturday went to the Highland Inn Ballroom Lounge to see Vanessa Briscoe Hay, formerly of Pylon, play with her new group–Supercluster. Opening group was Casper and the Cookies. The music was great–wish more people had been there.

My former boss offered me a new job–in Vietnam. He’s building a new store there. If this had been when I had just graduated/escaped college–I’d fled there– but–interesting to think about–

Moonset the day before “Supermoon” was mystical. Sometimes the moon does have a very otherwordly look.
It was setting in the West, framed by tree limbs, and looked wide open to connect to Elsewhere. I was going to try and catch it this morning, but I think it would have been cloudy if I had tried.

I was having fierce graphic dreams first part of February. Remembering in great detail. I’m still dreaming/sliding a lot of stuff, but forget when I wake up.

    Birds calling me outside.

  • Maybe some day I’ll resume daily entries–somewhere. Crocuses mostly bloomed out. Daffodils still blooming. Pink quince, yellow forsythia, white Bradford pears, pink Beauty Bush, various colors of hyacinth, various pansies and dianthus, blooming. Dutch Iris, irises, Black Tulips, mums sprouting up. About 71f today. Sunny and windy. Clear sky and stars.

Neighbor and I worked in another neighbor’s yard to help out. I have had a rabbit that comes to visit since early February. It visits me and several houses. Runs to my yard when kids down the road pester it. I think it’s somebody’s pet that got loose. Two cats, a hawk and an owl also tracking it. Hmm

It likes to play games like run circles around me, and other people. And also will do this flippy twisty jump thing.

I wasn’t here much a year ago–so I’ve been enjoying watching things grow and bloom. Wind recently broke my blue gazing ball, so I now have a purple one.

I look forward to the time change. Winter darkness is a problem, and I will be happy with more light.

  • Jack Frost is coming to town. Weather hos don’t want to commit. The main model says 8 inches snow, and some ice. They tried to soft pedal with “most people will probably just get 4 or 5,” or “a few might get 7,” then add “but some places might get 8.” Then mumble quickly some might get 12 but nothing to see here, move along-

I said all summer we’d have an ice storm this year. Magnolia limbs did not grow any while I was watching. However this past fall had to help people with other things–and in the meantime the limbs seemed to have grown quite a bit around various wires and lines.

I do have a pruning saw with long handle, but a bolt popped out and was lost. Hopefully I can fix. Sunny but windy and in low 40s today. Need to eat something and go out and see what I can do.

So–currently–they prognosticate– heavy snow Sunday night at 2 AM, then ice all day Monday through Tuesday. Whee!

Stores were light yesterday–I’m sure they’re fun now.

Still have spring bulbs to plant-haha–

January 3, 2011

  • Yes I remember in the beginning I’d post 3 or 4 times a day–albeit they were the length of tweets now. Then once daily. Weekly. Monthly. Have managed to avoid it being yearly. Haha Used to collect movie pictures and make picture stories.

Made a sojourn to Indiana for Christmas weekend. The snow they were expecting went south and graced Atlanta–including my yard I’m told–haha– But ground was still well covered from previous snow, and the roads were mostly clear. Cold enough though–had various long underwear or sweat pants on under clothes the whole time.

Unfortunately still have occasional cough. Basically ok if I don’t talk. People not the only thing in crowded Greyhound buses or terminals.

Lafayette mostly the same–still creeping sprawl though.

New Year’s Eve went to Wild Bill’s. (and the link thing not linking) Festive.

Now back to Holiday deconstruction and 2011 construction.

December 15, 2010

  • Freezing rain late this afternoon made mess of roads around town. Not really ice storm as such, but enough glaze to cause metrowide problems. Supposed to warm up a little for a couple of days.

Need to do Christmas cards. And wrap some fruitcake.

Finally saw a few episodes of Vampire Diaries. Interesting to watch something local made, and try to figure out where things were filmed at. Primarily in the Covington area.

Solstice in a few days. More light!

  • My right knee taunts me with healing. Was much better yesterday, but then I dozed off on the couch last night and slept all night on it–not the most comfortable way to go. I had gotten home from work and the last hour or so of Stephen King’s The Stand was on. So caught that. Then parts of old Star Trek Next Generation episode hadn’t seen in years–then–haha–dozed off again but woke up into X-Files, and Gillian Anderson and her luminous aura.

And–putting off yard work today–The Stand was on again–so caught more of that. Really had some nice music, and of course–Colorado is Colorado. Or at least it looked like that area.

Haven’t actually read The Stand. I think I fast skimmed a copy when it first came out, but now I cosy with books more. Speed reading really isn’t any fun.

I don’t know what this would mean in shamanistic terms, if anything– But a few nights ago coming home–turning into last intersection before the house– Big barn owl was flying across with something heavy and struggling underneath. Rabbit or rat maybe. Sort of dramatic coming out of the shadows like that.

Going to lake at Hard Labor Creek Park tomorrow. Have to get out, because summer will be gone before you know it. And I like the warmth and sunlight right now.

  • The Oak King of the Waxing Year is Dead! Long Live the Holly King of the Waning Year!

So– a previous car repair needs to be repaired. The “harmonic ring” that keeps the engine from rattling in disturbing metallic way. Taking the bus and train in this heat is draining, and takes a while to get to work. Hmmm

Multicolored pinkish, yellowish/whitish gladiolas blooming among the Queen Anne’s lace.

The poinsettia I’ve been trying to kill the last two and a half years has sprouted a few leaves on the porch. Not dead yet.

I think one row of Celtic pavers in the back I’m going to pull up, and redo that path. Round stones with patterns that were set over pine bark nuggets. Needs to be freshed up in look.

    Japanese beetles still stuffing themselves.

June 20, 2010

  • Happy Summer Solstice or Litha! Managed to plant some of the orphans I’ve been maintaining on my patio until I could properly plant them. A pepper dropped off one plant–I’d forgotten how pleasing a really hot fresh pepper could be with food.

Tomato plants have small tomatoes which will be nice later on. I think one area I going to dump all the seeds that have accumulated from past seasons and see what happens.

Japanese beetles shredding my roses as they usually do at this time. Stores never had traps whenever I looked. Queen’s Anne Lace sort of out of control. I’ve pulled some up, but still plenty left. Some tiny mums I planted in the front yard last fall managed to winter over, and are now bush size now and blooming. That was unexpected. Plus some gourd vine things in two areas–that was also unexpected.

Still some marigolds, impatiens and lilles and others to place somewhere.
