I'm Broke ...

Overdrafted my account once again today.

There will never be a strike for education.

How important is education? Not very. I've never seen a strike for education (I don't mean for wages ... I mean for education). Rarely if ever seen a protest for education (actually I did see one but it was not a big deal ... only school-wide and for university not high school). I guess we'll just all have to settle for 30+ student classes, less attention and less funding all around.

I mean we live in a world where a high speed car chase can interrupt the NBA finals (we're talking OJ Simpson and the 1998 finals), but we can't report about how the schools are under-funded. We live in a sad world.

Last Lecture

I watched most of the Last Lecture today. Pretty inspiring I suppose. So now here's my list of childhood dreams.

1) Be a student at Caltech.

I don't think this will be a reality. I could have been at one point, but I'm just not cut out for this kind of non-sense so I think I will take the "get as close as you can" cop out and become a weekday researcher there using their library.

2) This one is general ... change the world (revolutionize something in the world)

I have lots of ideas for this one already whether it is thoughts on solar energy or starting a restaurant with free food. Or maybe I'll start a business that only hires homeless people (to put ads on all the windshields at the First Colony Mall ... they're walking around all day anyway ... might as well do something while walking to get paid). Maybe one will be hardy enough to change the world.

3) Start a middle school designed to get students into top 30 colleges/Start a middle school who does ground-breaking research.

Possible endeavor later in life. I already have tutored lots of students who have gotten into good colleges. I am also slated to help someone do research for the science fair this coming year. I guess I consider this one 10% accomplished.

4) Make and dedicate a video game to my friends.

I am always thinking about this one. Maybe one day I will sit down and actually make it. I already made a snowball game for a Christmas present so I guess that's close. 1% accomplished.

5) Marry and have perhaps a kid or two.

Well only God knows this one.

6) Own my own house.

I am pretty sure this will happen if I just live in Houston and get a full-time job.

Health Laws

I wonder who came up with the law that we have to wear shirts and shorts in public.  We always hear about how completely environmentally unfriendly certain laws are.  Well, that one has got to be one of the worst.  If we all just wore underwear outside in public, we'd cut down on TONS of washing every week.  I can't even begin to calculate the amount of detergent, water, and lint that wouldn't go to waste.
