I thought that this week would be better. And it probably will be better than last week...eventually. For right now, though, I am going crazy! Jo Anne has an emergency situation on her hands and couldn't come in today and won't be in tomorrow... and there are no sub plans, nor is there a sub. What does that mean, really? That means that I have both third grade classes for two days.

Doable? Definitely. Fun? No. It's just hard because my classroom is SO small and there's literally NO ROOM for all of the desks. I would take a picture and post it, but my camera died on Friday, may it RIP, so until I buy a new one, use your imagination. It's without a doubt literally wall-to-wall desks. No lie.

It wouldn't be so bad except that Jo Anne and I teach differently, so our kids expect different things. That and the kids are all chatty because they're not used to being with all of their friends on a daily basis. Oh, and we're in different places in the curriculum on some things. She's ahead in Bible, I'm ahead in English. It's difficult to teach because of that. And we're each reading a different book for reading. Yikes!

One more day. I've been promised that it will only last one more day. Guess I'll have to wait until Wednesday to start the mother's day projects with the kids. Oh well.

Reminiscent.

Tonight is reminiscent of my college days. It's 12:50 a.m. and I am just getting ready to go to bed. All week I've been walking around like a zombie...completely sleep deprived and exhausted, looking for inspiration anywhere I can get it for all of our book week activities. Tomorrow marks the end of book week--thank God! :) I haven't been this stressed out since right before my student teaching major project. Seriously, this is that stressful.

The greatest news, however, is that we have exactly 24 school days left until the year is over. Of those 24, three include field trips. Yeehaw! This time is going to absolutely fly. Summer, here we come!

Of course, as emotional as I am in this sleep-deprived state, I won't let myself ponder the fact that my students will be leaving me. I've grown extremely attached.

Yes, I'm going to take my emotionally fragile self to bed. Two breakdowns in 24 hours is quite enough, thank you. Besides, my alarm clock is set to wake me up in exactly 4.5 hours. Oh bother.

Charles (Second Grader): Ms. Craig, why are you always on the computer?
Me: I have a disease and it makes me do it.
Charles: No you don't. I know what you're doing! You're emailing your husband!
Me: Nope, I'm not. I don't have a husband.
Charles: (incredulously) You don't have a husband?
Me: No.
Charles: Do you have a boyfriend?
Me: No.
Charles: You don't have anybody?
Me: Nope.

Out of the mouths of babes, I tell you. Nothing like the bluntness of a second grader to make you evaluate your situation! :)

Happy 24th birthday to my new roommate, Laura! We've been friends since we were 15, but never roomies! This is a new and wonderful adventure! God is so good to provide the friends in my life that are faithful and forever. I am overwhelmed by His provision of care and love through other people.

On that thankful note, I'm working on having a positive attitude about I Love Reading Week this week. Tomorrow morning is the book parade, including a puppet show of Charlotte's Web put on by my third graders, and a parody of YMCA entitled, R-E-A-D. You'd be amazed! We're gonna rock it out. I must think positively.

Anyway, I'm off to bed to get some rest before this amazing literary adventure!

What am I still doing up? Good golly, I'm falling right out of my routine lately. I'm beginning to think I've never had one. This week of school could potentially be the worst week of the year. I'm going to be honest: I'm not loving it. I cannot wait until Friday! Friday, when my aunt and my friends and I are going to see Made of Honor. Can't wait.

Yesterday my best friend from high school (Laura) moved into my house! Yay for having her as a roommie! I'm loving it! It's much better than being friends long distance. Granted, it means I lose my connection to West Palm Beach, but I get another friend to hang out with here! :) It's so worth it. Tomorrow is Laura's birthday, so I've gathered a fairly large group and we're having dinner at Bertucci's...yay! Some fun times lie ahead, I can just feel it!

I spent last weekend at National's Ballpark here in D.C. Abby and I went to the Cubs game on Friday night and though we tried desperately to cheer them to victory, the Nats got two runs in the bottom of the ninth, leading them to victory. Disgusting. It was so disgusting, in fact, that I came right home and bought tickets to Saturday's game. Jessica went with me to that one and we actually blew the Nats away that time! Both games were incredibly fun!

And now I absolutely must retire before my brain certainly turns to mush. It's getting close. If any part of this update is jumbled or incoherent, you know why. I'll try to be better about writing...it's just been so absolutely crazy!

Oh boy...

My flight home is cancelled. Yup. Cancelled.

I flew to Ohio for the weekend to throw my sister's bridal shower (which went smashingly) and now I'm stuck here. Well, until tomorrow morning. Now I have to be at the airport at 5 a.m. tomorrow morning and I get home at 8 a.m. I can still make it to school by 9 a.m. to conduct the standardized tests, per normal. I'll be crazy tired, but I'll make it.

So for now... I'm going to sit back, relax, and enjoy several more hours with my parents.
