  • One Thing After Another...

I know we were separated for several days... but I didn't think it was THAT long!    Apparently it was long enough for Elizabeth to meet some guy...    I don't know his name.    She calls him "Mr. Action."     I heard her praying "Thank you for Mr. Action,"   "Thank you for the way he is made," Thank you for his uniqueness," ...

Elizabeth has called me a lot of things, but never Mr. Action!      Post Encephalitis I'm more like Mr. Inactive.    And for his "uniqueness,"   I don't know what all that's about, but I don't think I like it!     For sure he's younger than me, thinner, better hair (I bet it's not grey!) ,...

At this point I don't know what to do.    She is leaving again in less than an hour and I won't see her again until Sunday.     The way she prays for him I think she likes him a lot!

No matter what this guy has to offer, there is no way he could love her as much as I do!    I guess I'll have to figure out a way to win her back...    I miss her already!

Elizabeth,    I have something to show you when you get home...  I hope you like it!

It's not easy being apart from Elizabeth.    But she's the best caregiver around, so I have to be willing to let her go at times such as this.

Here are some of the things that make her such a great caregiver:

She knows how to give her undivided attention.

She knows how to "baby" a patient, but she doesn't baby too much.

She knows how and when to push... but not too much.

    She's not big on meds.

She's great at running interference on the phone and at the door.    If she doesn't want you to get by, you're not getting by.    Period.

She is a stickler for details.

Her ADHD keeps her to-do list constantly going in her head... she's not going to forget the important stuff.

She knows how to deal with each family member individually.

Blood and guts fascinate her...   She's not squeamish in the least.

5'1" and weighing in at 102 soaking wet, she's a strong little thing!

And one more thing that must be on the list, she makes you feel better just by being near you!    Honest!!

As for me and the boys... We're ok for now...  so far, so good...

We made a new friend today and he said to say "hello" for him.  His name is "Little Wolf."     He's a tattoo artist!

I hope you will forgive my recent uncharacteristic irritability.      Those of you who know me know how unusual it is for me to be "testy."     I'm usually even keeled, calm, dosile, and emotionally predictible.      I am also, on occasion, a half way decent liar...

Look, maybe some of you GUYS can relate.    Elizabeth is leaving me!    Yeah, you heard me right.   (I heard that Gwen!     You thought I didn't hear you say "finally," didn't you!?)     After 24 years, she's leaving me, and I'll have 3 boys to raise on my own... from Wed. all the way to Sunday!!!     Can you believe it?!      This is NOT going to be good!    Not good at all!

    sad teenager

I know some of you guys are asking, "what in the world are you complaining about?!   Dude... it's PARTY TIME!!! "

Illustration of Black and white portrait of two brothers with sad expressions.

No...   I'll be grumpy...   I'll take it out on the boys...   I'll get absolutely nothing done...    I'll be a complete wreck!!!

I realize some folks won't "get it," but Elizabeth is definately my better half, and when she's gone, I am stuck with the bad half!

    Not Good!

How can this possibly end well?

Uh, no!    I mean, for ME?

Actually...  Elizabeth is going to be caring for her mom, who fell and broke her leg and is having surgery tomorrow...

    But still...

It is not good for man to be ALONE!

You won't believe what I used to believe but this is what I believe now...

    **EDIT at end**

No matter how loud people sing it or how much they say it, God is not in control of this world at this time.

For all our talk about how much God loves us, not once did He ever say the words "I love you."

Although we ask Him to in our prayers all the time, God does not "use" people.

God's love and grace are not "irrestible."

The fact that we are not saved BY works does not diminish the fact that we are saved FOR works.    Works matter way more than we seem to think!

We sit around waiting for God to tell us where to go and what to do...   "We'll do anything, just tell us..."   While God waits for us to do what He has already clearly told us.   You know...   Go, preach, teach, baptize, love, forgive, restore, everywhere on the planet...

We don't need to pray about everything.

"The only prayer God hears that an unsaved person prays is "the sinner's prayer.."     Bull hockey!     Let me say that again...   Bull Hockey!!

**EDIT**    I left out perhaps the best one yet...

Despite my appearance, my ability or my dis-ability,  I am the light of the world!    ME!

    (Have fun with that one!)
