Da_Dohboy: ANYWAYS, the topic header says how many online on Christmas day, rather than during Hanukkah... so the obvious choice would not be Jewish because Jewish people (for the most part) do not worship Christmas.

It just as sad for someone jewwish to be on at christmas as it it for a christian to be on at hannukah.... theres no connection

The connection I saw was that it'd be sad for Christians to be here on the forums on Christmas Day rather than celebrating the birth of Christ with their family instead of being here and it being sad that the Jewish posters being here during Hanukkah instead of celebrating the rededication of the temple...

Got Thirst?

Health experts tell us we should drink at least 64 ounces of water each day. It may reduce the risk of heart attack, give our skin a healty glow, and help up lose weight. We should drink even more water during exercise or if we live in a hot or dry climate. Even if we're not thirsty, we ought to drink water everyday.

Our thirst for God is even more beneficial. When we're spiritually dry, we long to hear from Him through His word, and we search for even a drop of knowledge about Him. When we're excercising our faith in a new way, we want to be close to Him and recieve His strength. Our thirst for God may increase when we see the sinfulness of people around us or when we gain a new awareness of our own sin and need for Him.

Spiritual thirst is a metaphor used throughout Scirpture. Asaph thirsted for answers in his questioning psalm When he saw the wicked prospering, he cried out to God to understand why (Psalm 73:16). He found the Lord to be his strength and realized that he desired nothing but Him (vv.25-26).

If we're spiritually thirsty, we can follow Asaph's principle and draw near to God (v28). He will satisfy us, yet give us a deeper thirst for himself. We'll learn to desire Him above all else. -Anne Cetas

In light of the many perversions and jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke, it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking.

Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her "How could God let something like this happen?" (regarding the attacks on Sept. 11).

Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said, "I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives.

And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?

In light of recent events...terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found recently) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said Ok.

Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school . the Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said OK.

Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with "WE REAP WHAT WE SOW."

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says.

Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing.

Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.

Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they WILL think of you for sending it. Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.

Pass it on if you think it has merit. If not then just discard it... no one will know you did. But, if you discard this thought process, don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in.

After reading that, I felt that it was describing our world perfectly. It is very similar to what Jews and Gentiles did to Jesus. Jesus helped the sick, provided for the needy, raised the dead and took the sins of the world; however, in the end, the world shunned him. God gave this nation, the United States of America, her freedom, her strength, her resources, her good leaders and many others. Today, many shun God. This nation has forgotten all that was given to her by God. Instead of praising His glorious name, the nation is ashamed of it, attempting to remove the word "God" from government, education and documents.

Post-9/11 our nation saw that she was defenseless. No one thought twice about putting the sign or sticker or magnet that proudly displayed "God Bless America." God could have made 9/11 the downfall of the United States; however, He nertured her back to health. Months after the tragedy, our nation returned to "normal."

What does everyone else think>?

Be a Role Model - Michel Matar

Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were young people when they were taken into captivity. They worshiped the true God and fully believed in Him. Their character was not in doubt and there was nothing questionable about them. Their devotion to God was evident as they purposely did not defile themselves. They stood firm for what they believed was true and did what they knew was right in spite of the consequences. They were knowledgeable, informed, learned and they put into practice everything to make their character shine in the midst of other people. When evaluation was done, they were found to be the most outstanding of all in every aspect. Despite their youth, no one could measure up to them. They stood out from the crowd.

We ought to set good examples. We should not at any time allow our age to hinder us from leading by example. Let us be known for good characters, exhibiting every element of Jesus in all that we do. This means that if someone has never known Christ, he will see Christ in you. Wherever you go, you are Christ’s ambassador. Represent Christ, as you are the only Bible that some people will ever read. Be the visible image of the invisible Jesus. Let your life challenge even other believers and preach to non-believers.

“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity” (1 Timothy 4:12).
