My First Pomegranate Experience

I had my first real pomegranate fruit the other night.  It's been increasing in popularity the last couple of years, so I decided I'd give it a try, even though it cost $2.29 for each fruit.  That's right, EACH.  I'm at my apartment standing over the kitchen sink, and Jorge breaks the fruit open for me (since I had no idea how to eat it - his grandfather in Mexico used to grow pomegranates on his farm).  It looked really odd - like red corn kernels.  I always thought the pomegranate seeds, the part you eat, would be soft and mushy.  NO.  They looked like corn kernels.  The texture of the seeds when you're chewing it was like corn kernels.  Red corn kernels that taste like fruit.  And no one told me these juices can stain your clothes like no other.  I have a reddish-purplish stain on my white shorts because of this damn fruit.  YES - WHITE SHORTS.  DAMN this red kernel staining fruit.  Argh.

I had a scary dream.  I dreamt that I was turning into a vegetable (literally) and I had a tail made of celery.

Now I'm scared of celery.

RaNdoM RanDoM:

Do you guys say "Drink your soup" or "Eat your soup"?  I had a discussion with a few friends from work, all either white, black, or hispanic, and they all said they say "Eat your soup."

I think that's weird.  For you Cantonese people, we say "Yum tong"...not "Sic tong"... I guess that's why I thought it was "drink your soup."

How is it for Mandarin people?  or is it just the Cantonese?

I still think "Eat your soup" sounds weird.
