This has always bothered me. Men never have to worry about anything other than their hair (anywhere). Maybe this opinion stems from my hate of having to deal with this every day, but it
is true. Men dont have to shave. Men don't have to shower and put on perfum to smell good. Men dont have to put on make-up and do their hair. Men don't have to plan their outfits out ahead so they look cute every day. Men don't have to go on diets to look skinnier to fit in those clothes.
Now, most of this stuff is optional, but for some reason its become an epidemic. Woman in Africa and such don't do anything and men still love them. But why do men in America feel that we have too do all those things in order to be beautiful? Don't you think that's partially, if not mostly, the reason why we do those things everday? Now, I'm not saying I don't. But that's not the only reason I do it, I do it because I like to see myself look beautiful. For
me. When did we let men decide we were beautiful? Men don't do all those things, but
we still love
them. Why can't that apply to us also?
I'm not saying this goes for every man out there. There are some dream men (rare species) that don't care what we look like, and would see us in sweats and smeared make-up and say "you're beautiful." Cheesy right? But true. And rare.
Have you noticed in movies where the preps with the make-up and the hair and the clothes and the nails have the guys drooling all over them? Don't forget
skinniness. Where do you think that came from? And the "nerds" who didn't care what they looked like just threw on some clothes, brushed their hair, and went on with life because it's too short to constantly be worrying about that, the guys hated. That's what it's like in reality too.
While I'm on the subject, weight plays a big factor too. Guys never like heavy girls, which is wrong. I have a friend who is
so nice and funny, and there was a boy who told her "You're really hot, but maybe if you lost wieght I'd date you." ?!?! What?! No he didn't. Anyway, there you go. The only thing keeping him away...is her wieght.
In my opinion, it's immature. It shouldn't only be what you see, but what you don't see also. I know you hear that alot, but it is true. In short, images are what defines you. And that's the sad truth.
