| IphoneSo I waited and waited and waited in line for an iphone yesterday. Did I mentioned I waited 5.5 hours? Had I known I was gonna wait that long, I would have either gone waiting 2 hours before the store opens (I'm up anyway), or get it some other day. Unfortunately because the Stonestown Apple had all the models in stock around Bay Area, people flocked there and they got overwhelmed and under staffed. It was absolutely the worst buying experience I had. I even finished up a game on my cellphone!!! Crazy.
But I do have to say iphone is instantly addicting. I spend rest of the day playing with it. I'm pretty sure when the Version 3 comes out, I will wait for a month before I get it. Never ever ever will I ever wait in line for something again (unless it's below market real estate in a hot market). Did I mention I would never waste my time to wait for an Apple product?
| Addinsult to injury. I pulled my back muscle this morning. But luckily I have this guy who's good at massaging/adjusting me. BUT I got stood up for my appointment!! I was really pissed off. That's the end of it. I can't deal with him anymore. I made an appointment with another masseur at Kabuki Spa. He's really good but the 50 minutes massage always ended up being 40 minutes. But my usual masseur went back to his country so I have no choice.
Went to Apple store today around 10:30. There were already lines. Snore. Don't these people work???? Will try again tomorrow when I don't have to wait 2 hours for a stupid phone. 30 minutes is max time I will wait. Truth of the matter is I should just wait 2 weeks. I'm sure there will be plenty and I would not have to wait in line at all.
| DepressedI'm totally depressed. I got a letter last night from this place I interviewed at. They were like they liked me but they don't really have something for me at the moment. I should contact them in September. So I thought I nailed the interview few weeks ago and now I'm back at square one. Perhaps it's time to move.... Where's my red bean popsicles? | | |
| NYC TripSo the trip was great. I was able to meet up with almost all my friends. I got in around mid night on Thursday. So I stayed in to catch some Zs. Then on Friday, I decided to hit Bergdorf, Barney's, etc. to find a gift for my friend whose b-day party was at night. So of course if I happen to pick up a thing or two... it's not end of the world... Anyway, as I approached Bergdorf, of course there was a massive line right in front of the apple store. Yes, the iphone v2 is out! While the phone itself isn't terribly expensive, it's the monthly payment that's gonna getcha. Kinda like buying a printer really cheap, but the refills are expensive. I want to get the new iphone because I hate my phone that cannot connect to internet no matter how I try. I have a Samsung SGH-G608. When I click on the internet button, it just doesn't connect. I don't know why? Of course this phone isn't available in US so I can't just go to AT&T (my provider) and ask them how come this phone doesn't connect to the internet. I really don't understand why US is soooo behind with cellphones? Why does everyone gets great phones a year or two before US gets them? Anyway, lots of people outside the Apple store. I went into the women's side because they have home department. But alas, nothing I found suitable for my friend. Then of course I head off to the men's side. Well, it's like hurricane was there or something. It was so picked over. The only thing I saw that I really really liked was a Thom Browne 3/4 length coat/ wind breaker. It was so beautifully made. The tailoring on that was immaculate. It was a nice deep navy blue almost black in color punched with white buttons. The silhouette was nice and slim without the usual excess fabric typically associated with coats. There were two back slits that were actually rather high and the edges of the slits were finished off with grosgrain ribbons. It look absolutely fantabulous on me. But unfortunately I don't live in NYC so there is no point of buying the coat. I have coats hanging in my closet forever and I've yet to touch them since I been living in SF. Plus even after extensive discounts, the coat was still very very expensive. so anyway, I didn't buy anything. Off to Barney's. Unfortunately for me, I did not find one single thing there. It was picked over and then some. They did have some beige Lavin (my newest fav brand) pants in my size but they were dirty. Yuck. But white pants get dirty very easily. The pants have beautiful horn buttons and zippers on the side of the pants that runs from the bottom to below knees. It was well made but because Lavin production is quite small, the prices were very very high for what it is. Anyway, I did not buy one thing. Then I head off to Georg Jensen. I got a flyer that they were having a sale so I thought I would drop by to see if I can pre-buy bday presents for mom and sis. So I ended up buying two necklaces. But still nothing for me. I then head off to Tiffany's to buy a present for my friend for tonight. I ended up buying her a cellphone strap accessory. Her husband used to own a cellphone store so I figure she probably have nice cellphones to go with cellphone straps. So i was absolutely determined to buy something for me!!!! I then head off to Saks to see if they have anything. Well, nothing!!! But I did find a lovely pair of leather Dior slippers for under $100! That was a good deal and my current one have holes and is ripped. So I ended up buying a pair of slippers. Woohoo! (sarcasm).
I went home and took a shower. Then off to LIRR to some Korean restaurant. The food was ok. My friend got a bday cake (her bday was this past Sunday) and I got one too (mine is this coming Friday). It was fun. A friend of mine ended up reuniting with bday girl's friend whom at first they didn't recognize each other. Then turned out that they used to hang out over 20 years ago!!! Then at the very end, we were gonna pack the bday cake to go. Then a friend of my bday friend ended up smashing a cake onto my bday friend's face. I was like "oh no. I hope I'm not next". I tried to help my friend wipe off her face. Then came the cake onto my face. I was covered with creams. It was not pretty. This is the very first time I got a cake onto my face. And make that the last time!!! Anyway, I laughed it off. It was good fun (although it the cream did get onto my shirt, shorts, and shoes). I then had to take LIRR back to Manhattan and then I walked back to my hotel). Then spend the next 2 hours washing my clothes/shoes in my tub...... But it was fun. (not sarcastic)
So Sat lunch the bday girl took me out to Boulud Restaurant. It was very yummy. We ordered preset lunch. It was a 5 course meal. I was so stuffed. I had a wonderful dessert. It was some kind of chocolate souffle. Then they keep giving us free desserts. We couldn't eat them all. Toward the end, we had the petite fours to go because we couldn't eat anymore.
Then I went to the New Contemporary Art museum on Bowery. It was designed by SANAA. I was really looking forward to visit this museum because SANAA is one of my fav architectural firm. I have to say I was a bit underwhelmed. The space was not exactly very complex as I had hoped. But then again, the budget was very small. I did bump into a group of artist performing in the lobby. That was cool.
I then head off to MOMA. The Dali exhibit was interesting but personally I was never that fascinated with surrealism so I kinda breeze through the exhibition. So by the time I finished with MOMA, I was tired. I wanted to go to the Met and Cooper-Hewitt Museum but I was tired. So I ended up going back to Bergdorf and Barney's to make sure I didn't miss anything. Well, I didn't miss anything. Still nothing for me except a pair of slippers for home.....
Then at night I met up with a friend of mine who's a real estate attorney and his bf of 9 months. I love my friend because he's so fabulous. Maybe my next life I can be like him. He went to Harvard. He's working in commercial real estate. He's bicostal. He works couple weeks in LA and couple weeks in NYC. He has a nice condo on the beach in LA and a pied a terre here in Chelsea. His bf seems very down to earth. Nice looking and has a townhouse in Brooklyn (I think he's in some kind of finance). Just so stable and nice. They are perfect together. My friend and I are both foodies so whenever we meet, we always try nice restaurants. I do have to say the one we went to. I think it's called 100 acres or something, isn't very good. The food was definitely very crude and a bit too salty for my taste.
So for Sunday, I went to a Viennese restaurant in Meat Packing district called Walli or something like that. It was very nice. This particular friend whom I went with used to be a very very close friend of mine. But somehow he more or less pulled away few years ago and we talked maybe once in a year or two. I'm sad about it. I try to make more contact but you know, friendship is two ways not one. I do sense he's more open to our friendship this time around. I think perhaps it is because he's not involved with another person so have more free time. We just chatted like old times. It was very nice. After a few hours of conversation, I head off to Gansevoort Hotel's sky bar to meet up with another friend for drinks. We just chatted and chatted. Oh yeah, I did ended up going to Puma's store before I meet up with this friend. I got 2 pair of shoes. One I got because I liked the concept of it. The other one I got because I wanted another McQueen Puma shoes. Oh yeah, Jeffrey's was picked over as well. But I did see this luscious laser cut Lavin hooded number (fall/winer collection). It was sued outside and I think probably cashmere lining. It was soooo cute. But I could not even beginning to afford it. Even at 75% off, I would have to think twice (ok, maybe not twice). Anyway, it was super yummy and cute. Ok, so back to my chatting with friend. So we just chatted for few more hours before I had to head off to JFK.
I bought so little this time. I guess in the past, I would have bought a lot more but this time I reframe from buying things and I have to pat myself on the back for that. I guess I'm growing up or realize I don't need so much stuff...
The flight back was a bit of a nightmare. The flight was delayed for about an hour. After we finally board the plan, there were so much traffic (due to the close collision few days ago, they only have one take off run way now) that we ended up spending another hour waiting for our turn to take off. Just absolutely nightmare. A 5.5 hour flight turned into 7.5 hours. For another 30 minutes, I could have flew to London!!! I mean wtf??
Anyhoo. I had a great time in NYC. It was so nice to meet up with all my friends. They are truly the joy of my life and I'm blessed to have them as my friends.

| I'm Back!I am sooo tired right now. My plane was late late late. We had to wait an hour to get on the plane and stayed on the runway for another hour. I'm terribly exhausted and sleepy right now. | | |
