| I had a very strange encounter yesterday. Well, not strange, but just interesting. Enlightening, we'll call it. I was eating at the Nook and one of my old gradeschool teachers came in. (did i dangle a modifier? the teacher isn't old...) she asked if i knew who she was, i said of course i do. then she said "you taught me a lot." she said that when she had my class she was a pretty new teacher and that she learned that not all kids learn the same. "you could be messing with things on your desk and looking all around and still learn and pay attention." two things occured to me:
1. someone finally got it. i got in tons of trouble in grade school because i was always goofing around and distracting other kids and talking and causing trouble. it's just nice to know that other kids will benefit.
2. my teacher was once new. i'm learning, as a new teacher myself, that you usually have no clue what you're doing. but having my teacher, who was one of my favorites, say that she was raw and rough and had to learn something made me feel better about the job i'm doing.
life goes on here in PKUSA, i'm trying to decide what to do with my life.
hope you are having fun,
Sam

| Hi guys, i just have one quick thing to say. I love cd's. Hadn't bought any for a looong time, now i have 7 new ones:
1. weezer~red album. It's good, not blue album good, but better than make believe. listen to pork and beans and dreamin' if you want to relive the old days. listen to heart songs and cold dark world if you want to hear the new weezer.
2. Mustard Plug~it's ska. if you're a grown-up, move on.
3. Skankin' Pickle~see above.
4. Less than Jake~Hello Rockview. if you don't remember it, you didn't live in the 90's.
5. Brand New~Deja Entendu. It's a good album, hush.
6. My Morning Jacket~Z. A friend of mine got me hooked on these guys, now I can't quit them. If you like music that can't be described, give it a shot.
7. Gogol Bordello~Super Taranta! wow, this is a good album, even by gogol bordello's spaztic standards. I listened to it twice all the way through the first day i got it. really catchy hooks and great writing. the fact that their songs have become poppier actually works in their favor.
So that's that. Life is going well, been celebrating the 4th for the last couple days. Tonight I eat brisket. Miss you all.

| mmmm boy, i just ate some rhubarb pie, in the summer, rhubarb pie, made by my...father. it was good.
this week is a short week. i think i have a four day weekend because of the fourth of july. i haven't bought any fireworks yet, not sure i will. i think i'm saving up money for something, so fireworks don't fit into that equation.
i feel like this summer is flying by. i haven't done any of the things i had planned yet. i hope this isn't what growing up is like. old people say that time flys by the older you get. i don't think that's true, i think you just get used to time passing and sort of forget to watch it go by. so i think my plan is to never do anything for very long and to keep changing it up, so i remember to keep an eye on what's happening.

| what? i've been busy. i have a job, just for the summer. i'm teaching beginning algebra at lcc. as someone said, i've come full circle at that school. "when i left you i was the learner, now I AM THE MASTER..." so anyway, on top of that dad and i are painting a house for a little extra $$ and a few cents. so i'm worn out most nights. but i've got some concerts up my sleeve to begin the frittering away-ing of all that hard earned cashes. listen to the red album.
