| Self-DisciplineI am going to be starting a study of the book of James with a friend of mine and then continue onto another book. I am excited to see what the Lord can do through me when I am studying and memorizing His word. Please pray that we do not become complacent but rather continue to discipline ourselves. | | |
| CornerstoneIt's been a busy summer! I just got back from Cornerstone earlier this week and it was amazing! I heard a lot of new music and even gained a new found respect for Screamo music. While it is not my favorite by any means, I really think that there is something there. Paul reminds us in I Corinthians 9 that we should "become all things to all men so that by all possible means [we] might save some". This verse ran through my mind as I saw all of the "differrently" dressed people and loud screamo music. Just something for us all to think about. Oh, and I was front row for the Relient K concert! | | |
| Be Humbled"For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account." Hebrews 4:12-13
I came across this scripture while reading through Hebrews today. It really opened up my eyes to the fruitlessness of attempting to hold on to certain areas of my life...God sees all! It is my prayer that God's word will penetrate my heart and that I will become broken before him. | | |
| Mississippi Mission TripI just returned from Ocean Springs Mississippi where I had traveled with FBC O'Fallon IL to do mission work. Eight of us college students spent the entire week doing service projects for those in Ocean Springs. It was a shock to see just how much still needed to be done even after nine months of clean-up. Debris still lines properties, piers and beaches are gone, whole houses are missing or gutted. It was such a blessing to be able to assist the victims, if in nothing else, the physical needs that they were hurting with. Our groups prayer was that we could be known as God's disciples through our love for them through our serivice. I thank everyone that prayed for this trip and I ask you to continue to keep me accountable that I will stay on the path to righteousness. I feel truly blessed to be surrounded by such amazing friends! | | |
| Summer DaysOk so it has been a while since my last post...sorry. I am almost officially alone in the dorms. I am so use to having other people around that being in a room by myself has become quite lonely. I went home this weekend to see my family so I should be ok until Monday. jk. No really I am ok. The solitude can be slightly refreshing actually.
Have I ever told you how great my job is! Not only is my boss one of the most flexible people I know, he sent me to Six Flags on Friday to recruit students and ride the Boss all for free...oh and I got paid for doing it... oh the bliss!
