There are certain reasons why some people don't like the dentists. I being one of them, have the same feelings... there's never good news.. it's either "Your teeth are dirty/ You have teeth decays/ Your wisdom tooth grows horizontally/ You need a tooth extraction"!
GAH!
Well.. I have this one teeth that decayed ages ago. It happened, I think, one year when my mum put gummy candies in a jar for the chinese new year. I usually don't eat candies, nor am I a big fan of chocolates.. but fruity gummy candies.. i can't stop eating them.... After a series of gum candy chewing spree that year, I have a tooth decay.
And I have been re-filling it for so many years.. Today is the 3rd time I sit around feeling my tooth with my tongue, and finding that the filling is loose! So I checked it out in the office bathroom.. and there it is.. ready for me to pick out of my mouth... (Yep, it is now sitting around on the table).
So I went to the dentist. Said the filling is gone.. and also that I've been having these 'pimples' on the gum near that tooth. I expected that the dentist will clean it up (which would reduce the inflammation), and fill it with new filling.
After a check-up and an X-ray, apparently the inflammation goes beyond the outer gum area. It's inside the tooth and the only way to clean it up is......... AARGGHH! I broke my $300 budget for a tooth fill, because now I need a
root canal treatment!!!!! It's either that or
TOOTH EXTRACTION AND IMPLANT!
GAH! So I did the rootin' thing.
It was painless.. but now I end up with half my face numb, and I talk like an idiot. I can do whatever I want on my right cheek: pinch it, poke it, pull it around the room, stick it on a frying saucepan even, and I won't feel a thing.
It costs me $2200 for the treatment. Not including X-rays, and medicines.. and probably not including the re-filling/ crowning of the tooth later on.
SHEESH! Even my neck and right shoulder feel a little sore!!!! The anesthetics must've gone down there too...
Sigh.. Brush your teeth, dears.. Floss them regularly.. and have your teeth checked once in a while, even if you hate dentists.. Having your tooth filed with a metal tool is not nice at all, let alone having a big long injection needle stuck into the gum... ~_~''
