    I Heart Dr. KAG!

"Hang in there!" - Dr. KAG

This started out as a pulse but I feel that it deserves more.  It's just very nice to know that the established experts at what you want to do believe in you and tell you that you can do it.  Not only that, they encourage you to bug them any time you need to talk even though they're very, very, very busy people.  They also observe and recognize when an issue is on the rise, as well as to take the initiative to deal with it, be it as elaborate as an agenda during a formal meeting, or as simple as these three little words above.  Although Dr. KAG will probably never ever read my blog, I simply want to express my appreciation and respect publicly as well.

    Crunch Time?!

Well...  Happy belated 4th!  Quick run-down: golfing on the 4th at Tiburon and shot a 90, kinda happy since 1)I was worried that I was going to suck and 2)second time to play a round this year; however, I must admit that two want-to-play-hide-and-seek balls were not counted due to high volume of traffic at the course.  Going again this weekend and hopefully keep up the performance if not improve.  Also congratulations to Phil and Natalie and happy marriage!!!
As for research, it feels more like a crunch time now since I'm preparing for the comp exam and it is kicking my ass.  At the same time I am trying to pick up the pace and get the thesis moving, so I've been doing new experiments and tackling the same issue from different angles hoping to get some results before the Cancun trip.  Speaking of which, Cancun trip's coming up in 2 weeks!  I am SO EXCITED, YAY!!!
Other than that, just trying to be active as much as I can (most frequent to least): lift + tennis + running + golf + cycling.  I want to say this is the first time that I actually couldn't wait for summer to come and appreciate it more than other seasons for some reason (I've always been a fan of spring, but I couldn't resist but to have an affair with summer, it's the 9-year-itch, what can I say?).
Lastly, trying to plan a trip to Houston but darn airfares are o-u-t-r-a-g-e-o-u-s!  Also contemplating about my buddy's wedding in Hawaii in October...  Hmmm, decisions, decisions...

P.S.  Finally switched to the new "dashboard" Xanga.  Had the urge to switch blog but decided to change the look first.  As for other blogsites, Wordpress or Blogger???

    Freaky Storm

Well...  So the end of Friday, supposed to be relaxing and chill right?  Wrong...  Staffarollema and I were finishing up for the day when suddenly I got a phone call from sTuGi telling me about a weather warning siren going off.  I then found online that a severe weather warning was issued with damaging winds up to 90 MPH and golfball-sized hail.  After another phone call from Staffarollema's husband informing us of hail about six miles away, we scrambled our stuff together and decided to run to get our cars, which sat outside in a parking lot about a mile away.  As we were running through the hospital, we turned our heads and looked at the sky, the blue sky five minutes ago was being covered by an ominous morphing cloud that's moving faster than anyone could ever run.  By the time we finally got through the hospital, it already started raining.  We decided to cross the street anyway to get into another building just to be a step closer.  In the ten seconds that we were outside, the rain started pouring and wind picked up so strongly that we were afraid we'd get blown away.  By the time we got to the other building, the doors were blown shut and I had to use my body weight to pull the door open.

We finally got inside and decided to hide in the stairwell for safety.  We then tried to make calls but all circuits were busy.  Several people showed up in the stairwell as well with everyone dumbfounded since there was never any alarm in our part of the city.  Or maybe the wind was blowing so hard the soundwaves of the siren were distorted to the point where it was inaudible to human ears.  On top of that, the hospital recently put in place this severe weather warning system that obviously was either not functional or it would only be used for earth-destroying meteor.  After the pounding sounded quieter, we ventured to other parts of the building so we could see what was going on outside.  We eventually left about 20 minutes later when it was only drizzling.  The usual 30-minute drive home turned into over an hour with parts of the city losing power resulting in demonstrations of idiotic drivers not knowing what a four-way stop is at every single non-working traffic light.  There were also lots of tree branches on the streets as well as broken poles.  Lastly, there's hail damage on my car, yay...

Pouring rain and accumulating hail on the ground.

Roughly marble size if not bigger.

    Hail on my car!

    Broken trees everywhere.
