Ellie Ye-Jin Shin

i've decided to give myself an english name, finally, after like 15 years of contemplation. i figured now's prolly the best time to do it, since i'm starting a new career and meeting a bunch of new people and all. Picking a name to go with my last name was such a pain in the ass, but i've actually been considering this name for quite a few years now, so i think i like it. i'm not really sure when to use which name though, and just a couple of days ago someone asked me if i had an english name and i replied 'no. oh. yes. uhhh... oh. ellie'. i think he thought i was an idiot.

One other thing, am i somehow supposed to make this official? like use it in my passport and stuff? or do i just use it as a nickname? and am i supposed to write Ellie Shin anytime i write my name in english? or Ellie Ye-Jin Shin? Ellie Y Shin? i'm so confused -.-;;

so i'm officially a trader now. first week was such a blur. get in to the office super early, go crazy putting in orders all day, then i look up at the clock and i'm like 'oh wow time to go home already'. i freaking love it. so much better than staring at the clock all day and wondering why time stops at work. work is very interesting, and quite a bit hectic, but so much to learn. why is it that the more you learn the more you realize that you know nothing? hmph. but it's good i guess. becoming a "professional" or whatever.

*btw, wtf is goin on with xanga? i get so lost in the new home screen or whatever. i hate when sites get all busy and confusing. why can't we just keep things simple? -0-

a bit of update

a rather overdue update of my life:

-new job! trading at templeton. kinda scared and kinda nervous, but also very excited and happy. my second real job, new chapter of my life, new people, new career, new beginning = all sorts of psyched up yejjie

-quit the old job. yesterday was my last official day, so i went in and did the whole round saying bye to everyone. started from the 19th floor and just went down floor by floor. my god, so tiring. kinda funny how there was an article in the paper the day after i quit, about how the FSS is losing so many talented employees already this year. everyone kept telling me how me leaving was such a big deal that it appeared in the paper. haha. kinda is, but still, pretty funny. coworkers were all so sweet, so many farewell parties, presents, hugs, goodbyes, good wishes.. it's a good feeling to be able to leave a workplace with everyone so happy for you but sad to see you go at the same time. i will miss them, for sure

-europe! leaving for paris on friday. currently planning on barcelona, paris, and south of france. 15 days baby. sooooo psyched. i haven't been bak since senior year high school! gotta brush up on that rusty french of mine... ben oui!

-car! my first car! been through kind of a lot of decisions about this one, but i think i've come to my (hopefully) final decision. will update again when i do

-new job starts on 31st of march woohoo.

all of this makes me feel so grown up for some reason. teehee. weeeee~~!!!

people like this make me so angry..

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/21/us/21hate.html?ex=1204261200&en=aefbc10fb17b252e&ei=5070&emc=eta1

i hope everyone's okay. i've actually never really faced any serious racism, but even hearing about things like this, and at a place like sps where i could call one of my second homes, makes me so angry. idiotic morons who have nothing better to do than send creepy letters to innocent young kids studying their asses off away from home need to be severely punished.

RAWR!!!

*on a totally separate note, i had no idea jana brown was our spokeswoman. i thought she just wrote the sps times.. O.o
