Went 3/4 of the way up north of Peninsular Malaysia over the weekend to CH. Going up was almost as smooth as one can expect. As the taxi snaked its way up the hills, the air started to get gradually cooler, a welcoming change in environment from the terrible heat.
After 1 1/2 hr's ride, we finally reached our colonial styled 'The Bala's Resort'. We checked in to our elegantly English concept decorated cottages and went on a combing task in Tanah Rata (one of the 3 villages in CH) for brunch.
We settled for a super cheap buffet (RM12 per pax). The food was reasonable, cant expect too much from the price. But it was welcomed warmth because of the coldness, brought about by the high altitude and continuous drizzling.
Soon, we were on our way to the famous places on CH. Huge, no… I should say hills and hills of tea leave plantations were a spectacular sight. Remember the stepped plantation methods that we learnt during our geography lessons? Well, you have to see it for yourself to realise how majestic the view can be.
We carried on with the visit to the strawberry farms. The air was filled with the light fragrance of huge, red strawberries that looked too beautiful to be eaten. The strawberry ice cream was most memorable… Hmmmmmmmmm…. Yum Yum!!!!
The 2nd half of the tour was brought us to the wet market where my friends bought vegetables and flowers which were to be brought all the way back to Spore (I just cannot understand why go through the hassle), a honey bee farm which I don’t see any bees because it was drizzling and finally a huge cactus farms with all shapes and sizes of cactus, which some looked like oio… (Well I live it to your imagination… hahaha!!! It was real funny)
Well, soon it was dinner time. After searching around for ½ hr, we decided to settle for STEAMBOAT again!!! Yes!!! It had rained the whole day and we were all damn cold and tired. The steam again re-energized us, the food were not as fantastic though. Passing by the pasar malam, we decided to buy ourselves some local delicacies back to our cottages. Maybe it was the cold weather that made us virtually hungry.
Going home was unexpectedly treacherous!!! Total hours journey up to CH, 9 hours. Total hours coming home, 13 hours!!! Man!!! It was damn terrible. Jam on our in to KL, jam way before the causeway in JB. At 1030pm, we were still stuck way before the M’sia custom in JB. Well, I got home finally at 1am Monday morning and now here I am unpacking my bags.
