Back from vacationing and now am anticipating July 4th and a three day weekend. Last Saturday I got to be in charge of our annual livestock jackpot in Las Animas. It went off without any major problems. Had some decent numbers: about 17 steers, 50 hogs, 30 lambs, and 30 goats. As soon as it was over headed to my mom's to shower and get ready for Kim's wedding. Stopped by Don and Bridget's on my way to McClave for a quick beer. The wedding was very weddingish. Had to kill some time before the reception though. So I went to Brad and Steph's to get the jackpot deposit ready and have some more beers. Made it to the reception. Hung out with the Ebrights a lot. As well as with Kinley - she had came down to help with the jackpot so we played at the reception a lot, and i gave her a ride back to Brad and Steph's. The plan is for me to go to Greeley in the next couple of weeks so we can hang out. And of course Megan and I were having a grand time. Got back to Lamar sometime after midnight. Woke up on Sunday morning, finished packing, and was at Don and Bridget's by 8:30. We headed to Colorado Springs to do some shopping before our flight. My main goal was some new sunglasses. And that turned out great. Met Brad, Steph, Pat, & Robin at the airport around 2. And we were off. Slept for the majority of a pretty rough flight. Arrived in Vegas Sunday night. Got checked in at the Golden Nugget. Ate at the Carson Street Cafe at out hotel. Then we experienced Fremont street. Did some gambling - I played blackjack. Finally ended up at Gold Diggers before calling it a night. Ate breakfast on Monday morning at Dunkin' Donuts with Steph. Then everyone met up at Claude's Bar in the Golden Nugget. Where we watched the US Open. Played video blackjack and poker. And entertained Tom the bartender. In the afternoon decided to go to the pool. It has a very fun slide. And in the middle of the pool is a tank that has sharks and fish in it. You can swim right up to the glass. Plus the water slide goes through the middle of the shark tank. Had to leave the pool in time to meet everyone for dinner at Tony Roma's. Had some great $8.99 prime rib. Then we went and saw "Defending the Caveman". Hilarious show. Ended up at Binion's that night. Steph and I watched Bridget play craps for a while before joining in ourselves. Learned a lot playing craps on Monday night. But Steph and I decided that we still needed to take free lessons at the Nugget on Tuesday morning. While we were doing that, Bridget went and bought tickets to go see Mystere by Cirque du Soleil that night. After we bought the discounted tickets we had to go to the box office to actually get our seats. That meant a quick trip to the strip, but not before breakfast at Dunkin' Donuts. We left Pat and Robin to play blackjack and the rest of us headed to Treasure Island on the Deuce. Got the real tickets and headed back downtown. Bridget, Steph and I then went to The Buffet at the Nugget for lunch. Then hit up the pool one last time. Everyone met at Grotto for dinner. Awesome Italian food. We then took the Deuce to the strip. Got to Treasure Island in time to see the "Sirens of TI". I was the only one who hadn't seen it. Because it was closed for renovations when I was there in December. Let me tell you though, it is definitely not a family show. So I thought it was insane the number of small children who were there with their parents. When we finally got into TI the line to get into the theater was outrageous. And the doors hadn't even opened yet. Since everyone has reserved seats we decided standing in line was a waste of time. So we went to Kahunaville before the show started. Amazing bar tenders and free shots -- what more could you want. Mystere was amazing. I now want to go see O the next time I'm in Vegas. Went back to Kahunaville after the show for another drink. Plus they have dueling pianos so that's very fun. Everyone headed back to Fremont street, where we split up to go gamble. Don, Bridget, and I went and played craps at the Las Vegas Club. Watched a guy walk up to our tablet, throw down $1600, play for 10-15 minutes, and walk away with only a couple hundred left. It makes me nervous to be the shooter when someone is betting lots of money. He wasn't there for long though so it turned out okay. Wednesday I got up and ate breakfast at guess where - Dunkin' Donuts. Then we all checked out of the hotel and caught the shuttle to the airport. Slept the majority of another pretty rough flight. Got into Colorado Springs. Don headed to Alamosa and the rest of us back home. Stopped for a quick bite at Del Taco in Pueblo. I had never eaten there before but it was pretty good. The two days I had to work this week were pretty uneventful. Megan came over Thursday night and we made burritos for dinner. It's looking like she might be temporarily moving in with me next week. No big plans for this weekend. I'll have to see what materializes. |
