| 080808yesterday was probably the most auspicious day ever!
the beijing olympics opening ceremony was held last night, which was simply magnificent and breathtaking, btw. the best evar!! i'm sure all of you watched it so there's no need for me to elaborate.
yesterday also marked rhyanne's 8th year of existence on this planet.
yep, that girl turned 8 on 080808!!
that means, she was born probably during sydney 2000. was it that long ago? oh my, i need to start investing in anti-aging products.
anyway, it's a superbig deal to our family and the planning of her 8th birthday bash started months ago, and they'd been running errands almost every weekend ever since to make this night nothing but perfect for that girl. her grandma, great aunt and cousins even traveled all the way from kota bharu to be here.
only good photos will be posted here, all of them lovingly edited by ganyewchin. *clapclapclap*

the beijing 2008 logo was added onto the banner summore.
rhyanne posed with the other banner outside, on the gate.
pink balloons every friggin' where. i love that number 8 balloon!!
event coordinator konon.
equally important, the event photog.
the road was blocked, a tent was set up for dining tables and buffet tables, and also the catering crew and waiters. aiyo, wedding also not this canggih ok.
and not forgetting, an awesome birthday cake that makes everybody jealous.
here are some photos of rhyanne, phylycia and their friends. very muhibah lah the atmosphere. not only are their circle of friends consist of kids of all races and religions, many of them are also results of mixed marriages, just like themselves.
the members of the older generation quickly finished their meals and glued their butts in front of the tv to catch the opening ceremony, before they were chased out of the living room by a herd of tweens who couldn't wait for the games session to start.

the birthday girl performed a dance, which she choreographed herself.

what shocked me, and many other ppl, the most that night was, all these girls wanted to do was DANCE! not twirling, but twisting, like clubbing wtf! and to songs like '4 minutes' and 'low'. they were not shy at all, when the music began and the light was dimmed they just jumped up, put their hands in the air and started moving to the music.
i'm not judging. it was super fun watching them. just that, having grown up in kota bharu, i thought tweens wanted to celebrate their birthdays at mcd's and burger king. it was a major culture shock. oghe daghat.
and then, CAKES!!!!
and the girls were fighting for the ones with princess jasmine on them, which reminded me of dear jasmine. i miss you leh. these cupcakes were heavenly!!!

this party was seriously the dream party for any preteen girl out there. my cousin and her hubby really went ALL OUT, if this happened 12 years ago i'd be green with jealousy. and not forgetting the heap of presents too!! and everyone went home with awesome party packs!
ok enough about the kids. party hats, helium balloons and cupcakes are perfect camwhoring props.

last but not least, my dear yangxiangyun turns 22 today! (9th of august)

i can't be with you this year, so i dedicated one of rhyanne's princess jasmine cupcakes to you la, and i ate it for you haha. (it's delicious btw.)
enjoy your nursing stint in ireland, and please don't wear sexy nurse outfits to work hoh, especially in the cardiac ward!!! the mortality rate would skyrocket in a sec!
i love you ah yun!!!

| one vain day.two updates in two consecutive days, it's a christmas miracle!!

trying on an LBD at Forever21 @ One Utama last weekend.
we tried on the same dress and we agreed it's super cute. but as usual, i'm too stingy to fork out money for an overpriced item with inferior quality.
aiya, but i kinda like it leh. how ah.
