What kind of baggage are you carrying around? what is holding you back form being real with God? In 1 Samuel 10:22 saul is proclaimed to be the greatest man in the place and he is hiding behind the luggage. What are you hiding behind, what are pretending to keep from God? He knows everything about you, why are you hiding it, why are you keeping your baggage with you, he wants to take it from you and carry it for you.  the keyword to getting rid of the baggage you have is forgiveness.  Whether its you forgiving someone for something that they've done to you, or if it's you realizing that al you have to do is give it to God, it's forgiven.  Don't seek revenge over soemthing that has been done to you, it only hurts you, and don't let this baggage weigh you down, it's too much for us to carry by ourselves.

Who are you know as, a Giant killer or someone who didnt' do much in the kingdom of God?

We don't lack discipline, we lack priorities. Where are your priorities? 2 Timothy 2:15 says, "Do your best to present yourself as to God asone approved a wrokman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth."  Are you representing Christ, or something else?

We are different from the world, and we should look different. Why would someone want to be a christian if we look, act, talk, and speak the same as everyone else?  "For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God." 1 Peter 1:23

If someone asked you why you believe what you believe what would you say? Do you know god or do you just know of God?

The only thing that gives us the ability to let go of our baggage we've been holding on tight to is God's greater love.

What do you want more, baggage that is holding you down, or freedom from having to carry it? What do you love more, the sin you are indulging yourself in, or The God of the Universe who created you and loves YOU?

You can have a huge stain on your life from past sins and still be a man or woman after God. It's giving that sin or sins to God that changes that sin to a stain. And it's what you do with it afterwards that makes your future weighed down or free. When you give your baggage to God, he can use it through you to help other people and it changes the whole perspective of the past.

Are you giving your life up for Christ? Are you laying down the things of this world that only last years for a God that lasts for eternity?

You can be so worried about your image and how other people think of you and how your friends think of you, that you will sacrifice the truth that you base your life on as a christian and have always believed in, just to be excepted.

God wil protect you for so long, but when we push and push he will guve us up to our own ways.  He's a loving God not an invading God. He is standing there waiting for you to say "I want you in my life."

PRINCE OF PEACE

In the midst of a storm Jesus, the prince of peace, was sleeping. Not just  a storm; howling wind, thunder and lighting, dark clouds, huge powerful waves, and he was asleep, because he is peace. He was woken up by the disciples to calm the storm. All  Jesus had to say was "hush, be still." Soemtimes in the middle of our storm, when the whole worl has engulfed us and we have all odds against us, he is quietly saying "hush, be still."  When is the last time you have just listened to him, just sat still and not read your bible searching for the answer to why you are hurting, or prayed that it would go away, but just listened.

Whatever we are going through he is more powerful than it, whatever it is. He's a counselor, the main reason we mess up our lives is because we don't listen to our counselor. Have you seen your counselor today?

How are you using your bible? To seek God or to earn the favor of man?

Pilippians 2:3-4

Do nothing out of selfish ambitionor vain conceit, but in humility consider others beter than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.  be real with people and more concerned about them and their lives than you are with your own.

Old School:

Our Father which art in Heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth,
as it is in Heaven
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil:
for thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
forever,Amen.

New School:

Dear God,
you are more glorious then we will ever know.
Your will is what we want for my lives,
help us to live a life for you
and shine your light where ever we go.
Please continue to bless us and our families.
Help us to forgive others just as you have forgiven us.
Hold us in your arms as we face the temptations of the world.
It is in your name we pray,

Amen

See? All those words we don't say anymore do have a meaning, and are very heart felt. Take this into consideration when you read things you don't understand at first glance, they have a deeper meaning, and when you sing old hymnal songs, they have a deeper meaning like the ones we sing today.

Have you felt alone lately? Like you have no one to look to? I hope this verse will encourage you in letting you know that you are NOT alone. God is always with you, through the good and bad times. So come to him with your troubles and thank him for your blessings:

Praise be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ out comfort overflows. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.

2 Corinthians 1: 3-7

Sunday, March 27, 2005

Some people believe that Christian life is a guarantee that they will be protected from trouble. Look, however, at what Jesus said in John's gospel : "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world" (John 16:33). We are not to be suprised when trouble comes, nor are we to expect God to take us out of the situation. Rather, we are to realize that God, in the person of Jesus Christ, has made a way through our troubles. It is going through the valleys of life that teaches us to grow and mature in our faith.

So, hang in there guys. What you are going through has a purpose...love you!!! have a great day

p.s. if u have any topic requests, questions, or prayer requests, etc... leave a comment! or if u just want to tell all the FISHERS something interesting, leave a comment! yay for comments :)
