After not running for like forever and ever and ever,
today was 72 minutes! This can only mean for the next few days my
legs will not be able to work. I hate it when I do stupid things like
this. Actually you think 72 minutes sounds like a lot but really it
wasn't considering how it took me 54 minutes to run 4.5 miles! SO SLOW!
When did I become such a horrible runner...oh right, that was when I
got the new job and running pot is on the back burner. *sigh* This of
course contributes to me being the small fat kid.

I stepped on the scale like two days ago and I thought I was going to
keel over with shock. But today I weighed myself and all is well, I'm
down to where I've always been. But it'd still be nice to be leaner
again...
Granted it doesn't taste like anything but it smells great! And there's just something great about drinking something warm.

I can wear flipflops to work again! Oh happiness!

After much running around (driving really) I finally have a power supply, a mouse, and a laptop lock. But, oh wait! there's going to be more driving since I have to head back to Fry's in PA and return the first stupid laptop lock. More driving. At least I get to expense the purchases.

Speaking of driving, the commute from Menlo Park is horrendous! Someone just shoot me!

And gas!!! 30$ to fill up the tank!!! And I've used almost a quarter already just getting my laptop set up. *sigh*

Wednesday, August 24, 2005

Coffee
I tell myself again and again that it's bad for me but do I listen? Nope. So here I am, having my stomach bunch in knots, having to go to the bathroom every 5 minutes and seconds where I feel like I'm floating. But hey, I'm awake and that's all that matters right? Considering that it's going to be a long day. I've been up since 6 and there's going to be a lot of driving involved. *sigh*

Training
I started new training yesterday. It was supposed to start on Monday but I was lacking a laptop. Well, now I have one and it's honking but alas, lacking in a power supply. But I get that today, so that's good right? But after yesterday and having to take over a project and having my mentor keep saying "I'm sorry, Janet" and "You're going to fucking hate me" doesn't make me all that confidant that I'm going to succeed in this area. So am I overwhelmed? Yes. Am I scared? Shitless. So if you don't here from me in the next month or so, I'll be curled up in a fetal position...crying. I look forward to the challenge. Yeah right.

Friday, August 19, 2005

Is there Hope?

I just read this op/ed in the NYTimes. The Article. I'm still in dumbstruck (and suppose will always be) about our current political leaders. We mock our ideas of democracy.

Thursday, August 18, 2005

Fries?!?!
How can this be a conclusive study? Do you remember what you ate when you were 3-5 years old? I sure as hell don't. I appreciate research that tries to find a links to help prevent breast cancer but this is too farfetched. The Article.

Monday, August 15, 2005

Girl Days
I've had two full days of Girl Days. Sometimes the extra estrogen is a welcome occurrence.

Seo and I went to have tea in this super super cute tea house, LoveJoy's. If you ever need a good boost of estrogen, this is the place to be. The place opens at 11 and within 15 minutes the entire place was full. It had mismatched china, cute cushions on the chairs, scones to die for (I really need to learn how to make scones), this great chinese rose tea, finger sandwiches, and CRUMPETS!!!! I love crumpets. It's the perfect blend of chewy and toasted goodness! Yum.

Then we went walking on 24th where all the cute little shops are. There's this place called Wink SF. They have this wonderful collection by Lela Lee called Angry Little Girls. There were these really great bags. One little girl said: That's cute bag you have there. The other said: Get your own, bitch! Cracks me up. Too bad the good bags were pink. meh.
Check out the comics, I chose a few:
Threatened?
Life is...
Something Out of Nothing
The t-shirts are awesome...and I got this coin purse, I thought it was apt. I think I'm in love...

Then today Cat and I spent most of the day together. Had wonton mien, definitely spent more money than I should have by going to Stonestown, played with makeup at Origins, and walked on the beach.

The woman working at Origins was so nice and helpful. She did really good demos. I tried on green eyeshadow and both Cat and I agreed that there is no way that we can pull off the color. I looked a tad sickly. Mmmm...riiiight. But Origins stuff is really nice...if only I could afford it all. Perhaps sticking with Target, Walgreens and Rite Aid are the way to go.

Yeah, Girl Days are needful things.

Monday, August 15, 2005

Mash Ups
Last night was one of the most spontaneous things that I've done for a long while. Went to the Rickshaw Stop and listened to mash ups all night. These DJs are amazing. Who can put Usher and the Bee Gees together and make it work? Amazing. There was also a band called the Smash-Up Derby. They were pretty good except the girl, she totally needed voice lessons. There was also a Bono and Janet mash up...complete with wardrobe malfunction. It was great. Much fun. And I got a free CD! Free is good but great CD is even better!

Thursday, August 11, 2005

It just goes on and on...
The Big Dig debacle continues. Now they've found evidence that the concrete used was of poor quality.

I hope the Bay Bridge isn't the Bay Area's version of the Big Dig.
