Service Before Self

i love my Primary School. And I always remember the motto of my primary school every time i stepped into the school.

Service before self.

i thank God for teaching me such a biblical value even at a young age. At the end of the day, this is really what true love is about.

Hilarious English

ONLY THE ENGLISH COULD HAVE INVENTED THIS LANGUAGE

We'll begin with a box, and the plural is boxes,
But the plural of ox becomes oxen, not oxes.
One fowl is a goose, but two are called geese,
Yet the plural of moose should never be meese.
You may find a lone mouse or a nest full of mice,
Yet the plural of house is houses, not hice.

If the plural of man is always called men,
Then shouldn't the plural of pan be called pen?
If I speak of my foot and show you my feet,
And I give you a boot, would a pair be called beet?
If one is a tooth and a whole set are teeth,
Why shouldn't the plural of booth be called beeth?

Then one may be that, and three would be those,
Yet hat in the plural would never be hose,
And the plural of cat is cats, not cose.
We speak of a brother and also of brethren,
But though we say mother, we never say methren.
Then the masculine pronouns are he, his and him,
But imagine the feminine: she, shis and shim!

Let's face it - English is a crazy language.
There is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger;
neither apple nor pine in pineapple.
English muffins weren't invented in England.
We take English for granted, but if we explore its paradoxes,
we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square,
and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.

And why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing,
grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham?
Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend.
If you have a bunch of o! dds and ends
and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it?

If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught?
If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?
Sometimes I think all the folks who grew up speaking English
should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane.

In what other language do people recite at a play and play at a recital?
We ship by truck but send cargo by ship.
We have noses that run and feet that smell.
We park in a driveway and drive in a parkway.
And how can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same,
while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites?

You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language
in which your house can burn up as it burns
down, in which you fill in a form by filling it out,
and in which an alarm goes off by going on.

And, in closing, if Father is Pop,  how come Mother's not Mop?

AND IF PEOPLE FROM POLAND ARE CALLED POLES THEN PEOPLE FROM HOLLAND SHOULD BE HOLES AND THE GERMANS, GERMS

Victory!

And they overcome him by the blood of the Lamb
and by the word of their testimony,
and they did not love their lives to the death.

As We Worship You

As we worship You
Let all the world come and
How the mercy we've received from You
Can set them free
As we worship You
Let all this joy that fills our hearts
Bring a hunger and a hope to those
Who've strayed so far

As we bow in adoration
And stand in reverent awe
Show Your majesty and glory
Let Your anointing fall
As we declare Your name Lord Jesus
As the only name who saves
May the pow'r of Your salvation
Fill each heart we pray

As we worship You
Let all the nations hear our song
The song of Jesus and His blood
That proved His love for all
As we worship You
May all the lost and broken come
May they hear Your still small voice
Call out their names each one

dearest all,

this is my first open letter to the world out there. I've not been writing or sharing much after I've come back from the mission field. I just came back from a young adult cell and we had Pastor Cheng shared with us about missions, and his heart for missions. It was such an awesome time for me... cos... I felt God speaking to me in such a huge volume.

yes... these past few months has been quite weird. it took me quite a while to realised what have i been feeling. i felt like a fish out of the water. haha.. sounds serious hor. I realised that my heart and passion is really still for the nations to come and know the Lord. This is still my passion... for all to see jesus been worship in places that there's no worship of God. It still stirs in my heart to hear that there're people who didn't have the word of God or have not heard of the name of Jesus, not to mention it's power. after years of seeking, God still stirs in my heart that his heartbeat is that we obey the greatest commandment and the great commission. To love Him with all our heart and soul and to love our neighbour as ourselves.

The only difference between now and 10 yrs ago when i first heard the call is that I've matured much in knowledge in knowing what does stepping out practically means. But... i realised i've also missed the point greatly. My rememberance of the hardships of adjusting to the different culture, coping with the changes and dealing with loneliness greatly covered and shadowed the amazing presence of God's power and grace. I've focus on the wrong thing. Revelation. Haven't I experience of simply walking with Jesus and how He amazingly supply ALL my needs. My Jesus is the same yesterday and forever.

Please pray for me too.. as I stayed in this land... I realiesd I've fallen greatly into the trap of the evil one at times. There was a great drop in fellowship and spiritual support here in my homeland as compared to my days in the mission field. I realised that I've lost sight of God easily... as I begin to see only what's in front of me and not what's true of me as a child and servant of God.
God is good.
Thank you God... for not forgetting me and loving me.

p.s.
I still like this song ... As We Worship You, cos it brings me great reminder of God
and His work among the India Mission trip and the team. It was such an awesome time
of experiencing Him and sharing of hearts with my young friends whom I brought along
and my new friends in the team.

Serenity Prayer

God,
grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

this prayer is still so appropriate years after i've first seen it.
