Going to have work up until graduation =( Most of my friends are done already! Well 1 more week to go.

  • When I think of synchronous chat online, the first thing that comes up in my mind is http://www.skype.com .  This is a free telephone like service that allows people to chat online through a microphone and speakers anywhere in the world.  The quality of the chat is surprisingly good.  I have actually recommended this program to my family and friends.  My dad actually uses this program now to speak with people back Asia for his work.  This is a great program to keep in touch with friends out of state to avoid those ugly phone bills.  Another interesting thing is that there is a chat window that can actually be used as asynchronous communication because you can leave messages even if the person is not logged on.  The person will receive this message whenever he logs on similar to a forum type manner.

  • Asynchronous sites are things basically like forums where people respond to each other but not necessarily immediately.  An asynchronous site I actually frequent is from a game I play, World of Warcraft.  The link to it is http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/board.aspx?fn=wow-mage .  This is the online forum community for the mage class, one of the several classes in the game.  Although I don't personally post things, I used to come here to find advice on how a mage is supposed to play.  I quickly learned that 90% of the posts here are people whining about how mages need to be stronger or how the Blizzard corporation is out to make this class the worst class in the game.  Now I actually read this forum not to gain any important information, but because it is amusing to see how much complaining they can come up with on these public boards.
