| | THIS IN FROM BRAZIL Elder Yorel3 is reporting that missionary work is accelerating in the Sao Paulo area. Here's a few excerpts: This week we had two baptisms and this coming week we´re going to have another one. He´s a 18 year old son of a recent convert. He finally decided that he wanted to be baptized. Next week we have another baptism, a young man that found a pass along card on the ground and decided he wanted to join this church. The 19th or the 26th will be the baptism of a family of 5. They´re incredible. We also have the baptism of a retired man who was going to kill himself, but he felt that he shouldn't´t, and then stopped us on the street to talk with us. Other than that, we´ve still got about 5 more people to baptize in April. This week the mission (one of four missions in Sao Paulo) confirmed 85 people, making 206 in March, the second time in the mission´s history that we got over 200. It´s incredible. Anyway, we´ve gotta get going, there´s ALOT to do. (The general conference statistical report stated that there were 279,218 convert baptisms in 2007. Total church membership now stands at 13,193,999, which is pretty incredible when Your Yorel considers that there were less than 3 million when he stepped into the baptismal font. God's work is accelerating. Yorel just figured that if each of the Sao Paulo missions carry on this kind of monthly pace, that a new stake would have to be created in that city every year! But then again, it is a big city.) |
