| New Memories
Elegance, beauty and peace. As waves crash at your feet, and fresh breezes run through your hair, the beach is a wonderous place. Sitting on your towel, fixated on the clear blue sky, and how it miracuously turns the water to a glowing blue. The sweet, salty fragerance follows you as you take your first steps into the shell-filled water. Waves crash at your feet, as shells overwhelm the shoreline. You feel the sun-rays beating onto your soon-to-be tan skin. You run on the soft, warm sand as it burns underneath your feet. The delight of hundreds on the beach, the roar of people of all ages, radios and cell phones; this is heaven. As soon as i walk into my beach house, i could smell the ocean. As if the cool breeze took the salt from the warm water and carries it everywhere it goes. I anxiously un-packed my bags and quickly changed into my bathing suit. I run down the hot sidewalk and onto the steaming sand. i feel the sun touch my skin, it quicky goes under my towel wrapped around me, and makes me sweat. I lay down my towel but sand piles quickly form in every corner. Hours pass, as i feel my skin turn red over minutes. I wake and shake off my sandy, warm towel. I walk towards the wet shore, and let the waves crash at my feet. The cold water makes my heart jump. After minutes pass, i walk deeper into the water and push against the current. I feel grains of sand and small sea shells crash against my legs under the strong waves. The water splashes against my hot skin, and my worries slowly wash away. Every worry about home, i had left in Ohio. The carolina waves go into my head and take every worry away. My head is cleared of everything negative i had in it before, as I anxiously wait for my vacation to begin. Days pass, and the same routine bores me more and more. Every morning i awake, and watch the sun rise above the water as it slowly turns the ocean to it's glowing blue. And everynight, i watch the sunset as it lowers it self and turns the ocean the mysterious black color. I walk the beach in the beginning of the day, and look for unbroken seashells; a rare sight. The furocious night waves crash hard against the shore, breaking beautiful seashells that could be used for souveneirs. I find few, and keep the ones i find unharmed. I walk the beach at night, looking for seashells freshly brought in by the waves. I watch fireworks every night under the sky as the clearly lit stars watch also, from above. I see a dark figure slowly enlarge as it comes behind me. My heart skips, and as everyone always says, the beach destines summer romances. My nights were then filled with dinners, fireworks, and walks on the beach. Pictures, and making memories took up a great deal of our days. Museums, shopping centers, and amusement parks owned our afternoons. Sometimes they carried on into the warm evenings. I wake every morning and scurry down to the beach. The same spot, directly under the tallest palm tree for miles, and wait. My two weeks fly by, like a soaring bird. I packed up my suitcase with tears. The beach always gives you a loving feeling, almost with its own mind, telling you, you belong there, like you should never leave. I put my cases into the truck of the car, and walked up the beach one last time. Admiring what was left. Three houses down, i knocked on a wooden door, half-covered with moss. I said goodbye to a boy, and goodbye to a summer. Vacation season had past. The beach was now almost lonely. Visitors and Tourists had been swept away, once again by the salty breeze. I felt the chill sand between my toes one last time, and watched as the waves fell against my feet. So hard, it almost knocked me to the ground. I looked at the sun, and the orange colored sky around it. I felt the rays on my now tanned skin one last time, and looked at a beautiful view. I slipped off my sandles and walked almost two feet into the chilly water. Memories that will stay with me until next year, ran through my head. A silent tear dropped into the water, and until next summer, i'll wait to find it.
