| | In honor of the Iowa Primary today, I present something I wish I had thought up : The GOP Primary Candidates as Buffy the Vampire Slayer Villains. Tomorrow we will just have to see who wins and take it from there. And if you're not sure how the hell the Iowa Caucus works, you can read about all the crazy arcane crap involved here.
I'm personally hoping for Edwards (this post sums up most of my reasons more concisely then I can), but I'd be fine voting for Obama in the general. I don't care for Hilary Clinton, Kucinich is great but has no chance of winning, and the best Republican candidate IMHO, Ron Paul, is still half douchebag. I'm almost hoping that Huckabee wins for the Republicans, because he is batshit insane and I don't think the Republican party machine could sell him to the non-crazy parts of America.
In other political news, New Hampshire got civil unions yesterday, giving them ALL the rights of marriage under a different name (never mind the Supreme Court having strong opinions about that separate but equal thing....). However on the flip side, a judge in Oregon issued an injunction against domestic partnerships (again, another word for "everything you get from a marriage except the word marriage") that were supposed to start there as well. And of course this was due to everyone's favorite asshole legal group, the Alliance Defense Fund, aka the legal buttmonkeys of Focus on the Family.
