| "What is real?" asked the rabbit one day, when they were laying side by side... "does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick out handle?" "Real isn't how you are made," said the skin horse. "It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become real." "does it hurt?" asked the rabbit. "Sometimes," said the skin horse, for he was always truthful. "when you're real you dont mind being hurt." "does it happen all at once, like being wound up." he asked, "or bit by bit?" "It doesn't happen all at once," said the skin horse. "you become. it takes along time. that's why it doesn't happen to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. generally, by the time you are real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. but these things don't matter at all, because once you are real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand.

| "this one time, I was pancakes, and people ate me... true story."
yeah, so I'm incredibly happy for no appearant reason, like usual, and I feel extra creative as well. I think after I return from tupelo I will put on some jazz and paint some new things on my wall. yes... that's what I'll do.
I sure wish it would rain quite heavily so I could play in it and maybe go back to the dried up, mini grand canyon, that used to be the waterfall and have a swim. bay springs is so far away and gas is so expensive these days.
I'm really ready to get that digital SLR so I can take ass loads of pictures without paying assloads of money to be able to see them. I have some pictures that are really interesting just sitting at wall greens waiting for me to buy them...
I have had a LOT of energy lately and I'm pretty sure it's because simon has motivated me to start doing cardio.
and I'm ready for school to start again, maybe then some of my friends will regress to a time when drugs and alcohol didn't consume thier lives, and besides I will have some more brand new things to do *yay!*. and I want new friends... fresh out the box with that new friend smell. that'd be great.
so long free time! farewell dawsons creek! you're being eaten up by higher education and the promise of a higher salary.
I go away a lot... especially in this time frame.
september 11 in Nashville TN... sufjan stevens september 15 in Atlanta GA... Ben Harper sept 20 in Nashville TN... M. Ward
that's going to be a busy week and a half...
I'm going to a great big city in ohio this weekend... guess which one!........ cause I can't seem to spell it right. and august the 18th it's back to the birmingham museum of art for art on the rocks.
over.

| random phone call from saudi arabia at 1 a.m.I was sitting at nate's house. It's one o'clock in the morning or something, and I'm annoying the piss out of people by playing the didgeridoo, lol.... my phone rings. the number that shows up looks like four social security numbers crammed together. I was confused and intrigued because, "I didn't know they grew em that big".
I answer it, of course, to congratulate this stranger on having the longest number in the country...
I hear my dad's voice...
"hey...they have a short hookah with two hoses and a clear glass base. then they have a green one with four hoses, a green ceramic base, and fancy metalic inlay that's three feet tall and come with a carrying case... they're both about 50 bucks I think. which one should I get you? oh yeah... your mom said you weren't going to memphis in may because you didn't think you'd have enough money, I told her to give you $300 since you didn't get to go last year. so go and have fun..."
I was.... flabbergasted.
I haven't heard my dad's voice in SINCE JANUARY! I've only been able to communicate with him through e-mail because it's so very expensive to place a call to saudi arabia these days.... and he just randomly calls me during booty call hours from saudi Arabia and starts talking to me like I sent him to the store for milk five minutes ago and he can't remember if I wanted 2% or whole...
then one of my friends leaned over and whispers excitedly, "dude! dude! get the one with the carrying case. *snicker*"
then I realized my dad was buying me a hookah...
I was unaware of the fact that he knew I used tobacco, but I'm sure he's unaware of the fact that I'm quitting...
I know he knows I don't smoke pot. I wonder if he knows that outside of a hookah bar the main use of a hookah is to smoke pot? I wonder if he would still buy it, knowing that, and knowing who I live with...
...but he offered... I'll accept.
how cool is that? my very own authentic arabian nights hookah and imported arabian flavored tobaccos... and the only person I have to hide it from is my sister...
next time we are up all night playing risk we'll be playing upstairs next to the coffee maker and the hookah... high class nerds yo.
banana flavored... that sounds the best.
I love the hell out of my dad.
 I miss him.
